Though CBS hasn’t admitted it, it’s being assumed that Medium has indeed been cancelled. The venerable drama has been down in the ratings this season (though it often ranks first in the 18-49 demographic for the timeslot) and CBS cut the season order from 22 to just 13 installments. That’s never a good sign. Just ask the folks from Numb3rs when a similar thing happened to them last year.
Over the weekend, Medium star Patricia Arquette was at an event and told EW that the show was indeed cancelled.
The cast has two more episodes to shoot before they wrap and Arquette said, “I was trying to get information from the writers about the last episode… I don’t know what it’s going to be, but they’re really excited about it. They’re like, ‘we’re just going to burn the whole thing down!’ I’m really excited.”
The actress isn’t looking forward to the show ending but said, “It’s been a great time. I love that time in my life.”
What do you think? Is Arquette correct or will Medium beat cancellation once again and return for season eight?

This is a great show, but I mean it was let go by NBC and CBS picked it up. We have to think of it this way, at least we got a second opportunity to watch it.
Netflix will be happy…I’ll be renting more DVDs. For once there was a successful mix of healthy family, suspense, with a little intrigue. Instead we’ll probably get more kids insulting their parents and calling them stupid while rolling their eyes. I can watch that any day in real life.
I love Medium! It is the best show on tv right now… I will miss it very much, I wish CBS would think about it and just put it in another time slot.
This is one of my favourite shows. Figures, if it is not a reality show might as well cancel it. Shame on CBS
WOW!!!!! This is depressing news. The family dynamic’s in the series is what I could relate to and really appreciate. Shame on you CBS!
Medium is one of the best shows on television. It is well written, creative, thoughtful, well cast along with being quality programming. It is one of the few shows that my wife and I both like. It deserves another chance as well as a better timeslot. I am really disappointed and hope that there will be enough of a groundswell that CBS will be forced to reconsider!
Sad to see it go, I still look forward to it every week. But 7 years is more than anyone can ask for with a TV show, so I’m happy. Plus they’re actually going to give it a proper sendoff as well, so like I said before, you really can’t ask for more.
Ok, do I have to be the one to state the obvious; shouldn’t she have seen this coming?
(Yes, I know, it’s only a joke, deal with it, call u-haul and move on.) Come on, cheer up, soon we have some crappy mid-season replacement to take out our frustrations on! Medium, you will be missed.
Medium is great. Sad that it’s being cancelled.
he’s just saying what everyone’s thinking. Their gonna cancel it. CBS acting like their not going to? And ecspeically after numb3rs last season. Really CBS, who you kidding?
I have a belief now that all the major network’s have some conspiracy to kill every show I love.
Dear CBS, I won’t be watching what show you replace Medium with.
If it’s been cancelled then she really is a medium.
Please please say it isn’t so!!! This is our family’s favorite show. It has a great story to tell, and one of the best relationships between husband and wife and family in general. I suppose CBS didn’t make a great commitment to this awesome show. I would love to at least see a complete season before they bring in some inane comedy, reality show, or cheap drama that promotes new stars. Translation, cheap ass shows. Well, quality costs money and that is why our family has so few core network shows that we watch now. We never have long to… Read more »
One of my absolute favorite TV families. I am sad to see it go but not many shows make it to seven seasons so I’m hoping for a exceptional series finale.
I think it’s a shame if “Medium” has indeed been canceled. The show’s ratings had slipped ,but not enough to merit a cancellation.
