Though CBS hasn’t admitted it, it’s being assumed that Medium has indeed been cancelled. The venerable drama has been down in the ratings this season (though it often ranks first in the 18-49 demographic for the timeslot) and CBS cut the season order from 22 to just 13 installments. That’s never a good sign. Just ask the folks from Numb3rs when a similar thing happened to them last year.
Over the weekend, Medium star Patricia Arquette was at an event and told EW that the show was indeed cancelled.
The cast has two more episodes to shoot before they wrap and Arquette said, “I was trying to get information from the writers about the last episode… I don’t know what it’s going to be, but they’re really excited about it. They’re like, ‘we’re just going to burn the whole thing down!’ I’m really excited.”
The actress isn’t looking forward to the show ending but said, “It’s been a great time. I love that time in my life.”
What do you think? Is Arquette correct or will Medium beat cancellation once again and return for season eight?

I guess a TV that actually has good writing and good family relationships is too much for the networks to deal with. I can’t imagine what they will replace it with. Maybe another realty show that cost nothing and takes no talent.I hope some clever network picks this show up.
It is all ways a constant source of amazement at the short term stupidity of the immediate gradification of a short minded network over the loss of yet another great T.V. show. If the far sightedness attention spans of these twitter trained executitives were focused on quality stories instead of the sacred bottom line – fewer programs of quality would not be cancelled. Keep Medium on the air but fired 1/2 the bosses and then 1/2 of the writers as a wake up call . Develop better – more plot twist driven stories to capitolize on her powers and do… Read more »
Well yahoo tv news reported this yesterday and already have over 2500 posts expressing their disappointment. Here is the link http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/cbs-cancels-medium–1803
With Medium having 7 million viewers a week why would CBS make such a bad move?
Cancel the boring reality shows instead.
Medium is why I turn on the TV on Fridays. Taking it off just gives me a good reason to leave the set off for the whole evening.
Please, please don’t cancel this show. It’s been my favorite show since they cancelled Third Watch.I love all the characters.Allison and Joe have a amazing relationship, that I totally relate to.I am going to miss this show deeply and intend to buy all the episodes like I did with Third Watch.Loved you guys.Take care
Please don’t cancel this show! Not only is it great watching a supernatural thriller each week, it’s also great watching the family dynamics. Besides all the women, I’m also a huge fan of Jake Webber. In fact, the entire cast is superb and I always look forward to each episode. If CBS wants me to watch shows on their network, they’d better leave shows like Medium on the air!
Please…please….please…don’t cancel the show…it is the best…..it is great….can’t believe the ratings are so loow…everyone I talk to and know…loves the show….leave it alone…let it be…..don’t cancel…it is great…the cadt is great…everything about the show is great….
With so little good shows on TV it makes me sad that a show with good writing and actors would be canceled. Soon we will all be forced to watch reality tv. I DVR Medium I wonder if the networks take that into consideration when it comes to the rating. With this last episode I saw the writing on the wall. Allison going back to school, maybe a spin off with her at school and solving problems for people in her school will happen????
First Ghost Whisperer now Medium, what’s going on? I’m speechless because I really don’t get it. I know so many people that love the show that it’s hard to believe the ratings are so low that cancellation is being considered.
This just goes to further the point of how stupid networks can be, one of the points for ABC not picking up Ghost Whisperer was because they were afraid of Medium being it’s main competition on a Friday night because at the time it’s ratings were high. Well let me ask you something, what do you think people had to watch first before Medium came on? CBS deserves a dunce hat to think that people would tune into to just Medium without Ghost Whisperer to lead it in seeing as it’s what many people were used to on a Friday… Read more »
Nooooooooo, say it isn’t true!!! Ok it may have lost some lackluster, but it is still a good show. Maybe a cable channel should pick it up! Please CBS don’t make me try to like another new show on Friday nights!
I really am very sad to see this show canceled. My children and I love watching together and are always amazed that they can keep the stories interesting. I hope the network reconsiders.
I love this show too! Different and well done. I lost track of it when it went to CBS, no surprise there…it’s not the show’s fault!
I am really going to miss this show. It survived cancelation once when CBS picked it up. I doubt this will happen again. I hope that they give the show a good ending.
I am truly disappointed. It is one of the only good shows left on TV. I sure hope that they think it over & change their minds.
