In the 2016-17 television season, although ratings for the Mom TV show on CBS slipped some, it was still among the network’s top five performers in the demo and 11th, in terms of its total viewership. Sometimes, as comedies age, their premises wear thin. With enough episodes in the tank for a good sized syndication package, should the Plunketts’ story end here? Will Mom be cancelled or renewed for season six? Stay tuned.
A CBS sitcom, Mom stars Anna Faris, Allison Janney, Jaime Pressly, Matt Jones, Sadie Calvano, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Mimi Kennedy, Beth Hall, and William Fichtner. The series centers on Christy (Faris), a single mom in recovery who has moved back in with her own single mother, Bonnie (Janney), who’s also in recovery. Bonnie’s attempts to make up for her failings can try Christy’s patience. After all, she’s working on her relationships with her own kids and their father and working toward a new career. Meanwhile, Bonnie is learning how to forge healthy relationships and still wonders what she’ll be when she grows up. Together, and with the help of AA, Christy and Bonnie spot one another along the road to recovery. **Status update, below.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Mom on CBS averaged a 1.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.536 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.

We enjoy watching Mom. It’s absolutely hysterical ….and the fact it deals with every day issues is a plus. Allison Janney and Anna Faris are a delightful pair. Wouldn’t change a thing on this show. It’s just THAT GOOD. This show is a keeper.
We love watching Mom. It’s about real life struggles and still manages to be a good laugh. My whole family loves this show. I hope they don’t cancel it. I also agree about Last Man Standing. Definitely a show that needs to come back. Absolutely loved it.
MOM is one of my favorite shows. I hope the show never gets cancelled. It hits on several subjects. Adoption, Alcoholism,Drugs, Divorce, handicap people, etc. With all those subjects being addressed it still manages to be funny.
Yes I like watching mom and hope to see another season or two. Would love to have last man standing come back. I really really truly miss it.
