What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FOX television network, the Prodigal Son TV series stars Tom Payne, Michael Sheen, Bellamy Young, Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, Frank Harts, Halston Sage, and Keiko Agena. Malcolm Bright (Payne) is an extraordinary criminal psychologist who knows how killers think and how their minds work. In the 1990s, his father, Dr. Martin Whitly (Sheen), was a notorious serial killer called “The Surgeon” who killed at least 23 people. Since murder is “the family business”, Malcolm uses his twisted genius for good, to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers. He works alongside his longtime mentor, Gil Arroyo (Phillips), and two detectives — no-nonsense Dani Powell (Perrineau) and JT Tarmel (Harts), a born-and-bred New Yorker who questions whether Bright is a psychopath himself.

Will FOX cancel or renew Prodigal Son for season two? Right now, I think it will be renewed but that prediction could change if the ratings keep dropping. FOX has ordered a full season of 22 episodes so that’s a positive sign. I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with breaking developments. If Fox cancels Prodigal Son I will not watch anything on Fox anymore. This is the best show ever. I’ve been watching The Resident and the 911’s but will give them up.
I am so addicted to The Prodigal Son! I love all the different levels of the show and characters. They keep it interesting an exciting. Couldn’t ask more from a show. I don’t know what I’ll do if they don’t have a second season!

I really hope they renew this. Acting by Michael Sheen, Bellamy Young, Tom Payne and the whole cast make the show soar. I’m 71 so at least you know it’s not a completely “youth-oriented” show. I was screaming “Yes!!” at the end of the last episode of Season 1. No spoiler here.

One of the best new shows this past season. Michael Sheen is wonderful. Smart, great ensemble, very interesting story, different, extremely well done. So, of course, it will be cancelled! The networks wouldn’t know a great show with tremendous potential if it had a 10 rating on IMDb and was watched by every person in the country. If I didn’t love this show show much, I would find it mind numbingly shortsighted. I do not expect to see it on the schedule in the fall. It is simply too good for these moron networks!
