Was tonight’s episode the end for the Salvation TV show? Viewers of the CBS summer drama series were likely shocked by tonight’s finale and it seems unlikely that the cliffhanger will ever be resolved. Do you think the network should renew Salvation for a third season, despite some very low ratings?
A CBS suspense drama, Salvation, stars Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Melia Kreiling, Ashley Thomas, and Ian Anthony Dale. The thriller follows MIT graduate student Liam Cole (Rowe) and tech genius Darius Tanz (Cabrera), who discover that in six months, a huge asteroid will crash into the Earth. In season two, the truth is out. Now that it is no longer a secret, the impending threat elicits both the best and worst from humanity.
The TV series debuted in July 2017 and drew pretty mediocre ratings right from the start with a 0.70 rating in the 18-489 demographic and 4.90 million viewers. The numbers didn’t get any better as the season progressed and ended up averaging a 0.52 in the demo with 3.53 million. Despite the lackluster ratings, Salvation scored a second season renewal.
In season two, the ratings have been even lower. The 12 episodes that have aired thus far have averaged a 0.33 demo rating with 2.67 million viewers. Compared to the first season’s numbers, that’s down by 38% and 24%, respectively.
It’s unclear if CBS Television Studios has a special streaming deal that would help reduce some of the production costs for this series (ala Zoo) but it seems clear that the regular commercial ratings aren’t strong enough to land Salvation a third season.

Yes! Salvation is the best that has been on TV for quite sometime. I feel the show has a very loyal following, without hardly any promotion from CBS. The cast, their characters and writers have been fantastic. Nothing on TV like it. Salvation deserves Season 3.
Please please continue Salvation. It’s the best series on TV. So many twists and turns in each episode, fantastic writing and acting.
This can easily be an extended story. I won’t miss a week. I will be bitterly disappointed if not renewed.
I have loved this series from the very first episode. I would love to see a satisfying ending to this show, unlike several other shows that have not been renewed and left us all hanging. We need closure! 🙂
Please renew for a third season. Last night’s episode had a surprising ending that deserves a resolution.

Don’t renew. I won’t watch another season. Wouldn’t call the ending a cliff hanger. Leaves it to your own interpretation.

Season three, please! I have to know what it is…is it alien? Is it all a ploy? Whatever it is, I need to know.
I think the concept and plot is amazing and the season two finale left me wanting for more. Goliath must be explored and explained and could take the plot in a very interesting direction. I would most definitely committ to watching at least one more season and probably more depending on the writing and plot. This is a show I could follow for a

Yes. I would absolutely watch a Season Three of Salvation. I have enjoyed the first two seasons and hope that this show is given more time to find its audience. I really do like Salvation and hope that it continues.

Very surprising final episode. I loved it! If it doesn’t get renewed, it’s a great ending. If it does, well, it could go a million different ways! Very satisfying season finale (possible series finale). Would I like it renewed. YES!
I think they left it in a great spot. They wrapped up everything nicely. But if they renewed I would take a peak at it to see how the name SALVATION plays into the plot of the story.
