It was a very positive start for the series and was the first time that the network won the timeslot (other than the Olympics) since November 2008. On the downside, a significant number of viewers stopped watching between the first and second half hours. Will this series last? We’ll have to see how well Smash performs over the next several weeks.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Smash TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

I don’t think McPhee is a very good actress. She should stick to singing.
I love this show….I so look forward to it and certainly hope it comes back
Katharine McPhee is the “Star”… she has lifted up the show. Since Idol she has been able to show off most of her talents on Smash. Her talents are unmeasureable. Seen all the episodes 3 times. Bought all her songs from Smash including the allum. I’m qualifying this statement by seeing her live 5 tmes in performances includng meeting her in person 4 times…I have autographs from all of her albums produced and seen all her movies.
Keep her as Marilyn and the show will continue to go on!!!
Love “Smash”! Originally watched because of Katharine Mcphee but now find myself loving almost all the characters. Didn’t much care for Megan Hilty in the beginning but now…. I’m a huge fan! The only thing about the show that needs some help is Julia’s stupid “affair”. It was not believable at all… no chemistry!! Love Debra, but I am finding myself so annoyed by her character now. Not Debra’s fault, just a poorly written story line. Would love to see Patrick Wilson join the cast next season. CBS was stupid enough to cancel his show “A gifted Man”!!! Great talent… Read more »
Smash is so fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m glued to the set! The music and dance numbers
run around in my head all the next day. Ha! I’ve found an hour of joy on Monday nights
with Smash. Thank you N. B.C. for taking a chance on this production! Bravo!
Smash is by far the best show on TV. I have loved every episode and hate to see it end. I do not understand the critical reviews and the nasty put-downs. When a god-awful show like The Voice succeeds and a wonderful original show like Smash gets trashed, I am totally mystified.
The best show EVER put on television…by far!!!!
Love Smash…..and those fabulous songwriters who are so creative every week. Best show in a long time…….keep it going, please.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. My football coach husband even DVRs it when he can’t be home to watch it. Shhhhh, don’t tell anyone.
We like the show very much!
Love this show!!! So glad it is coming back!!
Please don’t cancel the show. We are really loving it. So RENEW the show . NBC is so strange with show’s.I’ve seen you cancel a good show before..Example “””Friday Night Lights”??? Ring any bells with you?? The story is good and the acting ,singing, dancing ,storyline are great!
This is one of the best shows on television. Forget more reality shows, game shows, etc. and concentrate on quality shows like SMASH. We love it!
My husband and I have been watching since the beginning — we both love musicals. This show has gotten progressively worse. Plot lines are stupid and not believable. This show is like a train wreck that you watch in fascination and horror. Please cancel this show…
I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion. But does this person want to watch dumb game shows and reality? NBC has stepped up with SMASH, Harry’s Law and other great dramas. Glad SMASH has been renewed.
i never heard of this show before i never watch channel 4 or channel 5 I show seem boring to me on television than hd cable channels my comment is to the guy name Dave you seem so mad with another person comment you have to a employee of Smash !!!!!!! this show might be boring as hell if it is on channel 4 .Cancel this show these folks dont care about you all they want is for you to watch their lame shows.
I agree. McPhee should stick to singing. She’s too pouty. She doesn’t act very well.
Please keep the show on the air. I think it’s great.
