Debuting last fall, The Blacklist was the biggest new TV show of the season and even performed well in the ratings without The Voice as a lead-in. Can it survive a move to another night? Will the NBC execs regret giving it a full season renewal? Cancelled or renewed for season three? We’ll have to wait and see.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives (James Spader) who begins helping the authorities if a particular rookie agent (Megan Boone) is his partner. Now, the FBI works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. The other castmembers in this drama include Harry Lennix, Diego Klattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, and Amir Arison.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/5 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a third season for 2015-16. Details here.
Final season averages: 2.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.51 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The first season of The Blacklist averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.79 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Blacklist TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
excellent show – great twists and turns. Makes you think..
The fact that it makes you think may cause the show to be canceled. It seems none north of the Mason Dixon line are capable of that particular exercise.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Love that.
Ratings system is becoming obsolete especially with the 18-40 group. They prefer to bing watch programs via Hulu, Netflix, etc. it is the only way either of my 25+ girs watch TV and most of their friends also. Rather than trying to keep up with it all and take up disk space on their DVRs, they prefer to take a rainy Saturday or Sunday to watch 3 or 4 episodes of one or two faves and when have a season finished move onto another show. Why do you think Cox has that great binge watching family commercial with the pizza… Read more »
the rating system is not obsolete. If you pay attention, you will find that the shows at the top of the daily Nielsen ratings are also the top of the charts for VOD, same day plus 3 ,same day plus 7, delayed viewing, etc etc. The top rated show live also have the highest delayed viewership. so a show that has bad Nielsen ratings also has bad delayed viewing.
We love the show. James Spader is Great. We have been glued to the show. Best show ever….
I love the black list. It seems like all the shows I love get cancelled. Perhaps it is time to sell my TV, disconnect my direct TV and be done with it.
I LOVE the Blacklist. It won’t surprise me if they cancel it because those jerk powers that be ALWAYS cancels the good shows and keep or replace it with garbage reality shows!! If I see one more reality show added I will BARF!!
People need to get their OWN life and maybe trash reality shows will become something of the past (I hope).
PLEASE RENEW THE BLACKLIST!!!!
I so agree about ‘reality’ TV . From what I hear a lot of it isn’t real anyway. I haven’t watched one minute of any ‘Housewives of …’ shows. Yuk, a big waste of electricity just making such ‘crap’. Glad there is a 3rd season of Blacklist, love James Spader.
The decision to move to Thursday at 9p has been a DISASTER for The Blacklist…
Same for Mysteries of Laura. Cute, entertaining show. Therein again lies the problem. Too much for the low intellengence level of NBC’s audience and executives apparently. Look at its entire lineline.
I LOVE this show!!! Please don’t cancel!! I almost jumped through the TV when I geard “Just two episodes left” tonight!!
All I have to say is the NBC execs made the wrong decision to move the Blacklist to Thrusday. It was the best show after The Voice. Now they have some show on that isn’t worth watching. And then it messes up Thursday night viewing.
Why doesn’t NBC enjoy their success’ for heaven sakes……
Stop over thinking everything.
ie: the Today Show
Agreed. NBC FINALLY has an intellegent, adult and captive show and they propose cancelling. Typical however of today’s tv which is geared to immature, low cost production shows that highlight the stupidty of the population and require no intellegence. It’s either an inane competition or morphing avatars. It IS no wonder why NBC is grabbing at the lifeline as it sinks down into extinction. Even their daytime shows are lame and no cost.
Love this show!
Lol
an excellent series. We cannot wait until Thursday’s to watch. Don’t cancel!
Blacklist is my favorite show! Very well thought out please keep it going!
