The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots just kicked off on OWN this week. While the series hasn’t been cancelled, it seems like the Tyler Perry drama is coming to an end in 2021 and won’t have a ninth season.
Airing on Tuesday nights, The Haves and the Have Nots stars John Schneider, Tika Sumpter, Angela Robinson, Renee Lawless, Crystal Fox, Peter Parros, Tyler Lepley, Gavin Houston, and Aaron O’Connell. The drama centers on the complicated dynamic between the Cryer, Harrington, and Young families of Savannah, Georgia. In season eight of this drama series, Judge Cryer (Schneider) and his rich friends are all finding out what happens when personal flaws go unchecked. Karma has not been kind to the elite one-percenters.
The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots currently averages a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 873,000 viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 60% in the demo and down by 34% in viewership. The series was once the cable channel’s highest-rated show but the premiere’s numbers put it much closer to the bottom of the list. Is it time for the show to end?
New York Post recently ran a profile about Robinson under the title “Haves and Have Nots star breaks down its final season”. The article goes on to confirms that the series is ending by noting “It kicks off its final season Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the cable network.” and “Robinson tells fans to expect the final season of The Haves and Have Nots to be an emotional rollercoaster.”
But wait, hasn’t the cast already filmed a ninth season? Maybe not.
In 2019, Houston said that he was about to start filming the ninth season of the series. The season lengths for this series have been very inconsistent — ranging from nine to 44 episodes a season — so, OWN could have changed their plans about how the episodes would be grouped.
OWN has been quiet about the show’s immediate future. However, Perry’s other shows on the channel have already ended. In 2017, Perry signed a deal to produce 90 episodes of television each year for ViacomCBS outlets (including BET and BET+) so that’s been keeping him very busy.
It’s unclear how many episodes in season eight but hopefully, The Haves and the Have Nots will have a satisfying conclusion.

Yes it’s time to go maybe they will hurry up and wrap up some of these never ending storylines that never get resolved. The unrealistic character of Veronica doing whatever she want to people but she remains untouchable. Know doggone well someobody would’ve handled her by now all the stuff she has done to people. It need to end if GreenLeaf was taken off the air the HAHN should’ve been gone.
Yeah Veronica getting old and OMG dont get me started on the katherine son I’m so over his antics. And Jeffrey need to get some courage. Yeah the same old story lines with no end

It’s time to go. Sick of the storyline. Not realistic at all. Tired of Veronica getting her way.
Yea, Get revenge on Veronica. Somehow Mr Perry goes down a rabbit hole and VeronIca comes out on top. Benny needs to get married and Have a family and Wyatt need to get a life as well and learn to appreciate life. If it ends please come off the rabbit trails and give a solid storyline. Life is about endings and new beginnings and Veronica needs to end and Wyatt and Benny needs to begin new lives for themselves and for their family.
I will miss the haves and have nots very much. I just hope they don’t leave us hanging!
It was getting very
I’m not sorry to see this show end. There were way too many ellicit sex scenes in it. I started watching and began to care about some of the characters,but then I began to feel like I was being sexually assaulted mentally. I really like Tyler Perry, but he lost alot of cool points with me. After a minute, while watching this, I felt a dark cloud hanging over me. But when I stopped watching, the cloud lifted. You don’t need ‘over the top’ sex scenes to create good drama.
I use to love looking forward to watching the HAHN but really didn’t appreciate the gay sex scenes. I know it’s apart of some lives and that’s why I decided to stopped watching. Otherwise I love Tyler Perry work.
I love this show so much. Have and Have Not have the best actors and actresses. To me it is one of the Best series on.

I truly love watching the Halves and have nots! I would love to see a ninth season. Watching the show is my daily Tuesday night routine. I do understand the fact that it may depend on the viewers. However, like myself, I have had to decide what bill is more important during this pandemic, (Coronavirus). Unfortunately, my cable bill was one to cut! I think we should have a ninth season, even though I may be one of the ones to watch on demand at a later date.
