The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots just kicked off on OWN this week. While the series hasn’t been cancelled, it seems like the Tyler Perry drama is coming to an end in 2021 and won’t have a ninth season.
Airing on Tuesday nights, The Haves and the Have Nots stars John Schneider, Tika Sumpter, Angela Robinson, Renee Lawless, Crystal Fox, Peter Parros, Tyler Lepley, Gavin Houston, and Aaron O’Connell. The drama centers on the complicated dynamic between the Cryer, Harrington, and Young families of Savannah, Georgia. In season eight of this drama series, Judge Cryer (Schneider) and his rich friends are all finding out what happens when personal flaws go unchecked. Karma has not been kind to the elite one-percenters.
The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots currently averages a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 873,000 viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 60% in the demo and down by 34% in viewership. The series was once the cable channel’s highest-rated show but the premiere’s numbers put it much closer to the bottom of the list. Is it time for the show to end?
New York Post recently ran a profile about Robinson under the title “Haves and Have Nots star breaks down its final season”. The article goes on to confirms that the series is ending by noting “It kicks off its final season Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the cable network.” and “Robinson tells fans to expect the final season of The Haves and Have Nots to be an emotional rollercoaster.”
But wait, hasn’t the cast already filmed a ninth season? Maybe not.
In 2019, Houston said that he was about to start filming the ninth season of the series. The season lengths for this series have been very inconsistent — ranging from nine to 44 episodes a season — so, OWN could have changed their plans about how the episodes would be grouped.
OWN has been quiet about the show’s immediate future. However, Perry’s other shows on the channel have already ended. In 2017, Perry signed a deal to produce 90 episodes of television each year for ViacomCBS outlets (including BET and BET+) so that’s been keeping him very busy.
It’s unclear how many episodes in season eight but hopefully, The Haves and the Have Nots will have a satisfying conclusion.

I love the show, but it was a lot more exciting when new characters popped in, like Q! Come here Peaches! Smack! And Wyatt needs to go or be different, add a new villain other than Candace and quit letting her get away with stuff like throwing that dude out the window! I think the show could last, but needs more stuff going on. Like if Jeffrey got a girl pregnant and the baby mama and baby show up! More stabbings, buried bodies, and conspiracies!
I enjoy HAHN and like all the characters. It should not end yet. There are too many unfinished storylines. My thoughts are thst you concentrate more on characters with interesting roles and show them more. I believe this change along with faster pace will increase ratings.
It’s time to end it. My problem with it was the pace . Yes, it’s a soap opera, but the pace is REALLY too slow for nightime TV. Queen Sugar is a soap but the pace isn’t slow as molasses.

I love this show. Do not cancel as its one of the few shows I look forward to watching and is the main reason I pay for cable
Keep the show very exciting a little more of Candice and some news of the President finding out her pregnancy. This is a good nite time adult time show.
That show is the only show that I really love that’s the reason why I look at own. I love every character in the show. I hope something can be done.
Time to close the book on this show. Not interesting anymore. Scenes drag on and on and nothing happens. Some of Tylers other shows that were good canceled. If Loving You is Wrong and Too Close to Home were both great but got canceled. This one has run its course.
It time for the show to end it s circles doing the same things nobody getting kill off it boring now

I look forward to HAHN every week and watch it over and over. There are so many loose ends that I’d like to see tied up. I want CANDACE AND THE PRESIDENT Elect to get together. Let’s have a season nine. Let’s hust make it 10 seasons then let it go if you have to hoping the ratings increase and stay high for that period of time. I don’t want to see it end.
Please don’t Cancel The haves and the haves nots, I have been a fan Sence It started, me and my friends Enjoy this show so much, Tyler all the other shows we enjoyed don’t come on anymore. There is hardly any thing too enjoy. We are in our middle 70s there is hardly any thing too enjoy on tv, we Look forward to seeing our shows. Please Don’t Disappoint us.we Love you very much Please make us Happy.
The acting was terrible on season 7 and it doesn’t seem much better this time. I actually forgot it was on last week but I watched it later over in the morning. I think they are trying to do too much. Trying to give everbody a storyline.
I think it’s time for the show to end
