The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots just kicked off on OWN this week. While the series hasn’t been cancelled, it seems like the Tyler Perry drama is coming to an end in 2021 and won’t have a ninth season.
Airing on Tuesday nights, The Haves and the Have Nots stars John Schneider, Tika Sumpter, Angela Robinson, Renee Lawless, Crystal Fox, Peter Parros, Tyler Lepley, Gavin Houston, and Aaron O’Connell. The drama centers on the complicated dynamic between the Cryer, Harrington, and Young families of Savannah, Georgia. In season eight of this drama series, Judge Cryer (Schneider) and his rich friends are all finding out what happens when personal flaws go unchecked. Karma has not been kind to the elite one-percenters.
The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots currently averages a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 873,000 viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 60% in the demo and down by 34% in viewership. The series was once the cable channel’s highest-rated show but the premiere’s numbers put it much closer to the bottom of the list. Is it time for the show to end?
New York Post recently ran a profile about Robinson under the title “Haves and Have Nots star breaks down its final season”. The article goes on to confirms that the series is ending by noting “It kicks off its final season Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the cable network.” and “Robinson tells fans to expect the final season of The Haves and Have Nots to be an emotional rollercoaster.”
But wait, hasn’t the cast already filmed a ninth season? Maybe not.
In 2019, Houston said that he was about to start filming the ninth season of the series. The season lengths for this series have been very inconsistent — ranging from nine to 44 episodes a season — so, OWN could have changed their plans about how the episodes would be grouped.
OWN has been quiet about the show’s immediate future. However, Perry’s other shows on the channel have already ended. In 2017, Perry signed a deal to produce 90 episodes of television each year for ViacomCBS outlets (including BET and BET+) so that’s been keeping him very busy.
It’s unclear how many episodes in season eight but hopefully, The Haves and the Have Nots will have a satisfying conclusion.

I have enjoyed the television show this far but it does appear that it takes a lot longer Four Seasons to return I hate that it is ending get it together people

I think there is room for additional content. I think there is more room for Hanna to come into her being. I would like to see a flip in the have and have nots! We need to see the president elect situation also blossom.
It’s time. The show was really good , but the last few seasons it started to decline. The lines were repetitive and a lot of loose ends from previous seasons can be blamed for this show’s demise. Tyler hired writers a few months ago which he should have done awhile ago. This may have helped. Same thing happened with If Loving You Is Wrong. I think Kelly served a whole life sentence in jail. Smh. Hopefully, he’s crafted some new shows and we’ll get some new material. I will miss Benny tho…heads over to P-Valley.
I love “Have and Have Nots” please don’t end it. I look forward to watching it every Tuesday. I love this show, Tyler Perry!
I enjoyed the season this far but it does appear that is taking a long time for Seasons to come back into play Get It Together people I hate that its ending
I love this show. I’ve been watching since the beginning. It is a conversation piece. My friends and I dicuss what happened every Wednesday. Please do not take this show off. Thanks
Enjoyed the show each season. I hoped that the evil characters would finally get what’s coming to them. No body gets away being that mean and hateful without finally being stopped. Writing may not have been that good but the show was entertaining. Will miss my Tuesday night thriller. Love Tyler Perry and all of his projects.
The Haves and Have Nots has not been good since season 5. Nothing really happens any longer and without Candace being the central star it lost its luster. TP doesn’t employ additional writers which would be better and he hasn’t been writing well. It’s time to wrap it up.

No they can’t take it off I watch this show every Tuesday it have to at least go up to season 10 come on y’all just can’t end this like that I love this show let’s see how everything turns out with the president and Candace come on man stop doing this like to to the people that watches this show!!!
It is a shame that the Haves and the Have Nots are ending, I am very disappointed with Tyler Perry and Own, you are taking all the good shows off, you took Greenleaf, If Loving You Is Wrong and Ambition, that is so wrong, every last one of those shows were so good, after all this I don’t know if I will watch anything on OWN again!!!!!
