To no surprise, the new comedy from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, The Return of Jezebel James, has been axed and won’t be returning.
The network has clearly had little faith in the Parker Posey series from the beginning. Its initial order was cut from 13 to seven episodes back in October. There had been plans to give the comedy a special launch by premiering it after an episode of American Idol but that didn’t happen. Instead, FOX gave Jezebel James the kiss of death by running the series on Friday nights, coupled with repeats of ‘Til Death.
Even by Friday night standards, the series premiere attracted dismal ratings — just 3.17 million viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49. The numbers for the two subsequent episodes didn’t get better.
To no surprise, Jezebel James has been pulled from the schedule effective immediately and won’t be back. FOX has also pulled the repeats of ‘Til Death. Bones reruns will take over the 8-9pm Friday night timeslot for the next three weeks. There’s no word as yet if the network plans to release the remaining four episodes of Jezebel James online. Stay tuned!

Screw you Fox…PS, where the heck is American Dad? and why for the love of pete why is that horrid show king of… Read more »
Whle I agree with Joanne’s comment about not giving shows enough of a chance, I for one would not have kept watching this garbage. I give almost every new sitcom a chance and I had a great deal of difficulty even finishing these episodes. This was one time, the network got it right – though it does beg the question, who greenlit this thing in the first place?
I don’t know why you put shows on the air only to pull them without giving them a chance. This show had a clever take and i would have kept watching.
unbelievable.
