Tommy won’t be back on patrol next season. CBS just announced that the network has cancelled the cop drama and won’t be ordering a second season for the 2020-21 broadcast season.
The Tommy series revolves around a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female chief of police for Los Angeles. Abigail “Tommy” Thomas (Edie Falco) uses unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to keep social, political, and national security issues from hindering effective law enforcement in the Southland. The CBS drama also stars Michael Chernus, Adelaide Clemens, Thomas Sadoski, Russell G. Jones, Olivia Lucy Phillip, Joseph Lyle Taylor, and Vladimir Caamaño.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Tommy averages a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.85 million viewers. The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise as the drama is the network’s lowest-rated scripted series.
The 12th and final installment of Tommy airs tomorrow night.
What do you think? Do you watch Tommy? Would you have watched season two on CBS?
Please do not cancel the only show I watch on Thursday night! This is an excelente show and the topic is very appropriate for the times.
Am very upset about cancelling Tommy. Make changes to make it appealing to a broader audience. It was my favorite show and I am upset with CBS that they cancelled it.
I thoroughly enjoyed “Tommy” and watched every episode. It was a breath of fresh air. A smart woman who had what it takes to lead a major city’s police department. I still miss “Madame Secretary” and was looking forward to “Tommy“ and Edie Falco portraying an intelligent woman on television again. I wish CBS would reconsider their decision.
I think that you are making a enormous mistake by canceling the season 2 of “Tommy”. This has been one of my most enjoyable series that I have ever watched on television and I watch alot of tv.
Please bring her back next season and give it a chance.
Please don’t cancel this shown. It’s one of the best new shows on tv. Do not understand why this got cancelled
watched every week. loved the show.how could cbs pull the plug.they could of at least given it another season at least.give it a chance. hopefully another network will pick it up and have a little more faith in it. real bummer
CBS Please you took the best cop show and cancelled it????
Pl;ease bring it back the on show on tv that had integrity!!!
Yes I would have watched another season of Tommy.
Tommy had a bit of a slow start, but when it gained speed, it took off like a runaway train! So disappointed in it being cancelled! Maybe the thought of decent law enforcement and the Mayor of a big city is not entertaining for some. What a shame, a great show and great writing! Bring it back please.
I love shame on you to cancel it
I just heard you cancelled Tommy! I think this is the best new show I have seen in awhile and can’t believe you are ending it! You need to rethink this bad decision!
Tommy is a good show and should be given a second chance
Why cancel a show that many can relate to A women in a job that is mostly given to someone in the good old boys group. Has a daughter from a mixed marriage. Not unusual today. A gay person. Not unusual today She plays a smart person using her mind instead of guns to control every situation. A nice change. Hated to see show canceled instead of giving it another chance. Lot of advertising to get us interested in the show. Then drop it like a hot potato. WHY. Put it back on another night. Give it a chance. Give… Read more »
I watch it every week while recording Law & Order SVU. SVU has been on the air forever and putting Tommy against it was tough. Try putting on Wednesday when no good network shows are on. Shame on CBS!!!
Why does CBS not give a show a chance? It’s a great show and should be given a Season 2 for more people to become aware of it. Edie Falco, Thomas Sadowski and the rest of cast are seasoned actors and deserve a chance. Cancelling this show was a BAD decision!
Tommy was definitely cancelled too soon. It was not even given a chance. Great acting. Too bad I was looking forward to a second season.
You are so right. This show and many other CBS shows need more time to show how they belong on tv. Maybe a different time slot?
