What comes after the end of the world? Recently, Mat Baynton spoke to Radio Times about the possibility of a season two for his British-American sci-fi dramedy, You, Me and the Apocalypse.
The first season of the show concluded earlier this week in the UK and will air on NBC some time in 2016. SPOILERS AHEAD
Created by Iain Hollands, the series chronicles a group of characters as they deal with the news that a comet is going to hit Earth and destroy the world. The show stars Baynton as an English bank manager, Jenna Fischer and Megan Mullally as two prisoners in New Mexico, and Rob Lowe as a Vatican priest.
Speaking to Radio Times, Baynton said he’d gladly do another season, but it would “be very different to the first.”
As of yet, there is no news of the show’s renewal.
Baynton, about a possible season two:
If there’s a second series it will be very different to the first. It will be about the bunker and how people get on in there or probably about the future when they emerge from that bunker. I am not saying it will be set in a bunker but let’s say it could be.
I really liked that about this series. [Writer] Iain Hollands said ‘no, we are promising the end of the world and we are going to give the audience the end of the world’. The fact that we get there is a great thing. It’s giving the audience some sense of completion. It’s so unsatisfying having an unfinished story and you have to wait 18 months to find out what happened.”
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of You, Me and the Apocalypse? Would you like to see another season?
Season 2 is a must for the good guy to triumph – after all he is the chosen one! Did you really have to Kil off rob lowes character – he was fun! First two thirds of the season were the best but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to more. Bring it on and maybe rob Lowe back
Great series but I Found the end a bit silly. How can the guy who opened the water of the Thames with the help of God dying like that letting the evil brother win? Make a twist for season 2, let him in the bunker somehow…….
I saw it as a metaphor for Cain and Abel, and in that story Cain did kill Abel. Plus I thought it was a nice twist

Mixed views really, great idea but dragged a bit the middle to satisfy the new trend for mega long dramas. Ironically, given the writers comments about conclusion, loads of unanswered questions. Like to see a shorter Mir punchy second series.
I thought the series was superb and cries out for a second series. There are so many questions left hanging and the different personalities left in (and outside?) the bunker still have a great story to tell.
Plenty of interpersonal drama left to be explored in the bunker and too many unanswered questions for it to be over. The thing that makes this series stand out is the honest look at different aspects of modern society, including religion and homosexuality.
I really liked the series, and expected it to be a single series (season). The ending was really sour, though. And I don’t understand why nobody shot the old lady.
Just finished watching a marathon once I started I couldn’t stop stayed up all night lol. If they don’t do a second season I would be very upset, but just about every show I liked gets cancelled ie Firefly for instance. I’m telling everyone on my FB to watch this show before it’s too late for a second season.
Holy crap! How can they leave it like that?! I really enjoyed it, great story, very original, the cast was a bit hit and miss for me, the English actors trying to do accents was just embarrassing, Paterson Joseph included, It’s a shame because I’ve loved everything else he’s done :-/
Rob Lowe was the stand out for me, gutted they
Best TV series of the year in my opinion, I was completely hooked! I would be really disappointed if they don’t follow it up.
There’s gotta be a season 2, that was the best tv series I’ve watched in a looooooooong time………
Loved it, need to know what happens to Jamie, and whose in the crate??
I loved this series!!! Fingers crossed for a new series
I would love to see another series! This was completely different than anything I’ve seen and I’d love to see what happens.
Great series with an excellent cast. Would love a second series….but is it really possible given the end of the first one?
Please do season two need to know what happens to Jamie season one left a bit up in the air with the bad guy getting in to the bunker loved season one
Loved the show! Would watch and wish there is a second season. Good TV should continue on and I have no doubts the show’s producer/director can create/make a great second season, the only question is whether he wants to!
Hope so!
