Will All American return for a second season? Executive producers Robbie Rogers and Nkechi Okoro recently spoke with Deadline about the future of the CW TV show.
The sports drama centers on Spencer James (Daniela Ezra), a rising high school football player and an A student at Compton’s South Crenshaw High who is transferred to Beverly Hills. The cast also includes Taye Diggs, Samantha Logan, Bre-Z, Greta Onieogou, Monet Mazur, Michael Evans Behling, Cody Christian, Karimah Westbrook, and Jalyn Hall.
Although All American didn’t perform all that well on The CW, EPs Robbie Rogers and Nkechi Okoro say the series has reached a new audience on Netflix:
We had such an awesome, loyal following when we originally aired on The CW, but it’s been amazing to see All American get a second life on Netflix. A whole new audience has discovered us and has been reaching out to both of us and our actors. The response/feedback has been overwhelming and humbling. While we don’t get numbers from Netflix, we have been trending on the site since its first weekend on there and the social media chatter around the show skyrocketed over the last three weeks.”
Does this mean The CW will order a second season? EP Greg Berlanti says:
A few weeks back, Nielsen released data to The CW saying All American was the number 3 show of the week for Netflix and number 2 in teenagers. Obviously Netflix is quiet about that sort of thing but all the indicators we’ve gotten are very positive and a good sign that the show is continuing to find an audience, just as Riverdale did after its first season on The CW and Netflix.”
If The CW does renew All American, Rogers and Okoro say they have “big plans”:
Clearly, you want The CW to kill us for revealing any spoilers. HA. Unfortunately we can’t share any of our plans if we are lucky enough to get a season 2 on The CW. However, what I can tell you is that in hopes of getting that season 2, we do have big plans. And we’ll continue to be inspired by Spencer Paysinger’s real life and continue to authentically portray the reality of black youth from various walks of life.”

I just finished watching season 1 I loved it I even got my mom brother and my gf into it u come out with a 2 and 3 I garenty more and more people are gonna start watching u cant leave us hanging on all those cliff hangers

Great show, very well made. Perfect casting and well developed web of intermingling lives. Season 2 is a must, but it would be tough to top the first season.

Season two is a MUST HAVE! I have not found a show that had me hooked before the opening title shot of the first episode is I can’t remember how long!
I did not look at the show while it was on however I have binged watched it on Netflix and I am hooked. When does the next season come on because I can’t wait so please don’t leave me hanging.
Yes, please keep this show going. “All American”, is a wonderful show that needs to be continued. This show is very relatable to many. I think just because one big screen doesn’t think there should be a season 2 because of ratings, doesn’t mean it should be cancelled. Not only does it keep people employed, it gives people a good show to continue to watch with a powerful meaning.
Please don’t leave us hanging! Season two is a must have. I love the who aspect of the show. It goes way beyond football..one of the best shows on Netflix and the CW.
This is one of the best shows I have seen in a while. The show has a positive message that is inspirational across age groups. Please bring this show back, we look forward to watching every week with other viewers.
