In a time when TV networks are obsessed with young viewer ratings, who would have thought that NBC would order a show starring 90-year-old Betty White and other senior citizens? I guess they’re hoping that Betty White’s Off Their Rockers will attract audiences of all ages.
Per the fast affiliate ratings, the debut of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers did very well for NBC. It attracted a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 12.23 million total viewers.
Compared with last week’s edition of Fear Factor, the network was up by 13% in the demo and a whopping 121% in total viewers. Looking at the numbers from one year earlier, NBC was up by 44% in the demo and 97% in viewership. Cancelled drama The Cape drew just a 1.8 in the demo and 6.22 million.
The premiere of Off Their Rockers was surely helped by having the 90-minute Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America’s Golden Girl special as a lead-in. It registered a 2.7 demo rating and 13.86 million viewers. Any way you cut it, Off Their Rockers got a positive start and stands as NBC’s second-highest rated non-scripted show and also their second-highest rated half hour series of the season.
Betty White’s Off Their Rockers isn’t currently on the schedule and NBC has 11 episodes left. Given these numbers, it seems likely that they may be looking for a place for it.
What do you think? Did you watch Betty White’s new show? Would you watch it again?

Pls keep this show on NBC!
I’m 63 y/o. I LOVED the show . . . it was hilarious . . . and I hope it is on every week. I will watch it – and laugh ! Good, clean fun stuff !
I laughed so hard I cried! It didn’t make fun of old people, they made fun of the rest of the world! It was truly hilarious and I hope they find a slot for it. You go Betty!!!
Enjoyed so much!!!! Hope that NBC will find a permanent place for the program. They say laughter is good for the soul. I think I added a few years to my life. Thanks Betty and NBC.
The show was hysterical….I’ve not seen nor laughed at down-to-earth funny ‘stuff’ since the original ‘Candid Camera’, ‘Carol Burnett Show’, ‘All in the Family’, and similar such shows of “back when”. Guess I’m showing my age, but this was a refreshing change for a change!! Here’s hoping that NBC uses its smarts and gets this one on the air to compete with alot of the mindless drivel that airs on TV these days. You rock, Betty!!
I am 80 years old. I guess I don’t have a sense of humor but I was embarassed last night and felt the show was making fun of us old people. The way they were laughed at behind their backs made me sad.
good clean comedy, liked it
I am 50 years old and watched it with my 13 year and we both laughed soooo hard. Was hoping to see more. It was such good honest laughter for all ages. Hope there is more to come.
we hope it will continue not many shows make one laugh like this one did
I am 62 years old. I volunteer at a old age home. I only wish some of the people I visit could have watched this. It is honestly the funniest 1/2 hour I have watched in I don’t know how long. Honest, funny, funny, sincere! I loved it and am telling everyone I know about it. There are more people in this world than just 20 something’s….Please keep it on!
I am 84 years-old and I almost fell off the couch, I was laughing so hard! I wanted to call my daughters to tell them to watch, but I didn’t want to miss a second of the show. It was WONDERFUL! I can’t wait to see the next episode, please schedule it soon with plenty of notice…..
It was so funny. My husband and I watched it together and each of us called and text people to watch it. Today I have been telling everyone about it. NBS hit a homerun on this one lets hope they keep it. I loved and give it four stars!!!!!
What a GREAT show!!!!! I was laughing outloud. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Really liked the format. It had a very honest, not mean, componant to the humor. So much of today’s comedy is based on being mean or demeaning another person, this one didn’t, in fact, showed real people interacting with seniors, who are often, as the opening suggested, marginalized, not thought of as being able to be interacted with.
I hope NBC sees the value in this fresh approach to the candid camera popularity of years past. And yes, I am part of that demographic!
I will watch again!
me and my husband were laughing so hard. it was so good and funny in a good way. we hope it comes on weekly. WE SAID THAT WHEN IT ENDED.we were still talking about it in bed and laughing out loud.it reminds us of “candid camera” so much and that was a big hit…..
Loved it!!
