It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last. While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.
This has been an amazing adventure! We have poured our blood, sweat and tears into this show. We would be foolish to think we can go and go and fire on all cylinders and never stop to pause. Our family is healthy and our marriage has honestly never been stronger. This has nothing to do with a fraudulent skincare line or anything else you’ll inevitably read. This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment. Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.
We are really, really proud of season 5. We laid it all on the field and didn’t hold anything back. We think it’s the perfect finale to this amazing journey we’ve been on. Season 5 begins in November and Behind the Design will follow shortly after. There’s so much good, new stuff coming your way!
Though our Fixer Upper chapter is coming to a close, we aren’t done with Waco. We aren’t done renovating homes. We aren’t done designing things to make your home your favorite place on earth. We aren’t done working towards restoration in all things or helping out those who could use a hand. In fact, in all of these things, we are just getting started.
Who knows what the future holds, but we’re excited for whatever is around the bend and in the meantime, we will definitely be staying in touch.
We will forever be thankful for HGTV and this opportunity of a lifetime. We are also thankful to our production company, Highnoon Entertainment and our amazing producers and crew on the ground here in Waco. We are grateful for them and for you. Thank you for sharing life with us and for the continued support. Thank you for having our backs! Thank you for caring about these homes and these families and the things that we care so much about.
Really, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Chip and Jo”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Fixer Upper? Are you sad it’s ending?
First of all I’d like to say that HGTV will be loosing one of the best shows on its network. I am very sad to hear that the show is ending. I hope that this decision was not because they are christians or the untrue controversy. If it is i will boycott your network and will encourage fellow viewer’s to do the same. I wish the family all the best. May GOD BLESS them in all their future endeavors.
Love, loved the show…..am I sad there will be no more?? ABSOLUTELY, I enjoyed Joanna and Chip’s attitudes and inspirations on so many levels. I wish them and their family the best in their lives to come. Would love to visit Waco, Texas someday just to have the “Gain” experience!
I can understand where they are coming from. May God bless the gaines family. I will truly miss your show.
Joanna’s decorating has gotten pretty one-note with farmhouse shabby chic. I love the players but am bored with the show.
My wife and I will miss watching new shows.
Best home improvement show, loving couple and family on the air, to date
You will be greatly missed so very much! Your show made my first year of retirement amazing and gave me inspiration to refinish some furniture! It has been such a wonderful journey watching you and your family! You guys are so good together…working and laughing together…but you all embrace life with lots of love and it shows! Thank you and I will watch reruns until they stop showing them which I hope is never!!! Lots of luck for a blessed future and may God bless you and keep you now and always

Wow! I can’t believe it… I was saddened about Flip and Flop hgtv show ended in past and now this…
I too am very, very sad that this great show is coming to an end. I have watched the show from the beginning (at least 3 times per episode) and learn something new each time. Chip and Joanna are a fantastic couple who adore their family. I am so looking forward to “Behind The Design” that will be forthcoming. God bless you both for making so many people make their homes the home of their dreams. I wish you good luck in your future endeavors.
I’m so sorry to see this awesome show w/2 awesome people and their family come to an end. My daughter and I have very much enjoyed this show and have gotten some really great ideas in decorating from it. I will truly miss Chip and Joanna Gaines and their adorable family but I also completely understand. Family is the most important unity in the world!!!! Fairwell!!! You will be truly missed…
I’m not surprised, with all the jealous haters out there trying to bring this wholesome couple down. I would have chosen the same course, when life is no longer fun it’s time to get rid of the negative things in it and make positive change. I know in my own life I got rid of the toxic people and things that would bring my day down. I recommend it for everyone.
I will indeed miss Chip, Joanne, and the show, classy couple & cute family. BEST wishes to all, thanks for all the reno’s & fun, you WILL be missed.
Very sad that the show is ending, but I completely understand – you don’t want to burn out, and you don’t want to neglect your family life. I love you both, and your kids are wonderful. But they are getting older, and time is precious. All the best to all of you – maybe you could do a special every year? Happy trails….
I will miss them both. Not only are they really talented at what they do but they are real and that’s what make the show so good. All the luck in the world to you and your family. There’s a tear here.
