It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last. While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.
This has been an amazing adventure! We have poured our blood, sweat and tears into this show. We would be foolish to think we can go and go and fire on all cylinders and never stop to pause. Our family is healthy and our marriage has honestly never been stronger. This has nothing to do with a fraudulent skincare line or anything else you’ll inevitably read. This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment. Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.
We are really, really proud of season 5. We laid it all on the field and didn’t hold anything back. We think it’s the perfect finale to this amazing journey we’ve been on. Season 5 begins in November and Behind the Design will follow shortly after. There’s so much good, new stuff coming your way!
Though our Fixer Upper chapter is coming to a close, we aren’t done with Waco. We aren’t done renovating homes. We aren’t done designing things to make your home your favorite place on earth. We aren’t done working towards restoration in all things or helping out those who could use a hand. In fact, in all of these things, we are just getting started.
Who knows what the future holds, but we’re excited for whatever is around the bend and in the meantime, we will definitely be staying in touch.
We will forever be thankful for HGTV and this opportunity of a lifetime. We are also thankful to our production company, Highnoon Entertainment and our amazing producers and crew on the ground here in Waco. We are grateful for them and for you. Thank you for sharing life with us and for the continued support. Thank you for having our backs! Thank you for caring about these homes and these families and the things that we care so much about.
Really, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Chip and Jo”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Fixer Upper? Are you sad it’s ending?
it’s been fun watching the show, Joe I’m not sure how you handle that crazy Chip. Good luck to you both.
we enjoyed your show. we will miss the fun watching you rebuild homes and all of your talents. wish you lots of success.
watched the show all the time loved it
Tracy – I don’t know how I will get through the withdrawal of such a wonderful family. I will miss you, your talent, your humor, your children, your designs. I wish you and your beautiful family a very safe journey in your next phase in your life. Thank you for sharing your lives with us for the last 5 years. God bless you and keep you all safe.
We will really miss the show and the family behind the series I guess we will continue to watch the reruns until HGTV stops running them. Good luck to both of you and your family.
I just started watching a few months ago and I love all the shows. Love Chip’s quirky antics and Jo’s patient looks she gives him. Love that they include the kids. Makes you want to live in Waco and get to know them.
Hey I’ve enjoyed the common sense of your Program. You made me feel welcome in your world. I enjoyed the antics of Chip and his craziness. The Love of your Family and the way you presented them. Make Me sad that your stopping the production. HGTV will have to look hard to find a replacement Program, You will be missed. Your #1 in my book.
My husband and I will be very sad that time we will see the last episode. We even love watching the re-runs on our days off from work. We will be praying for them as they continue their journey ‘fixing-up’ Waco. God bless the whole family. We will also miss seeing the kids!
Many of my friends, relatives and myself included will miss this program so much it’s exciting to see what you two have done for these homes. Hope we have not seen the last of you in anyway and I cannot wait to visit Waco on my next vacation . Thank you so much for your inspiration and congratulations on your growing family wish you so much joy and love .
This is my confession to the talented, fun and my fantasy next door neighbors Chip and Joanna Gaines. I am a black person who had a negative view of white Texans because of some stories of hateful racist in Texas. What an unfair assessment of everyone in a state. YOU TWO made me see them all as individuals again. You not only made America fall in love with shiplap (a word most of us never heard of before you came along), you won us over with your style that is constantly growing! Joanna, you are not a ONE TRICK PONY.… Read more »
Sad to miss out on Joanna’s design talents. Best show. Noticed that Chip has already shut down in his appearance. Nice looking fellow, but has really been lax in upkeep.
Thank you for sharing your lives with us (me) for these past seasons. It’s been more than a “fix-it” show, it’s been personal. I’d work for both of you on an on-call basis for free if I lived in Waco. I’ve tried to record a few of each show for every year, but there’s only so much room on a DVR. I hope you come back with “specials” every now and then.
I LOVE THEM THEY WILL BE MISSED GREATLY..I HEAR ANOTHER BABY ON THE WAY CAN’T WAIT TO CHECK UP ON THEM EVEN AFTER THEY LEAVE HGTV…..LOVE YOU GUYS AND GOD BLESS YOU IN ALL THAT YOU DO….
Glad to see this corny show is ending. Both of Joanna & Chip seem to do more acting than decorating. So many more much better shows on HGTV.
I will miss your show very much. So many great design and ideas you both have. You both are fun to watch together and the kids.
Good luck in your future endeavors
