Is there any hope left for a Mad About You revival? Recently, star Paul Reiser spoke with the Tampa Bay Times about the possibility of rebooting the NBC TV show.
As reported earlier, Sony Pictures TV has ordered a revival of the ’90s sitcom. The original comedy starred Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt as Paul and Jamie Buchman, a newly married couple living in New York City. The show ran seven seasons before ending in 1999.
When asked what’s happening with the Mad About You reboot, Reiser said Sony is currently in negotiations but it seems “unlikely” the revival will happen:
It’s kind of stuck in the business end of it now. Sony is trying to figure out from their end; that’s where I just walk away and go, call me when you figure it out. I don’t know what happens at that level. They make their deals with whoever they make their deals with. So we’ll see if it happens. It may not happen. It likely won’t happen. My guess is it won’t happen.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Mad About You? Would you watch the reboot?
Oh Thank Gawd! These things are getting old already. I can’t wait to measure the “shelf” life on the most recent rounds. Is Hollywood really becoming that void of new ideas?
M.A.Y was a great show. How about Wings? That ended WAY too soon.
Enough “ revivals” and “ reboots” already! Doesn’t anyone have an original idea? No interest whatsoever in this.
I think this is a viable idea. The people who watched this show before are still here and would probably really enjoy seeing these characters again. Just because both the audience and stars have now aged doesn’t mean that we’re not still watching TV and buying the products whose advertising make it possible. In truth, I watch more TV now than then and can afford to buy more now as well. Sounds like a winning combination if you can get good writers.
