What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Zeljko Ivanek, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Kevin Rahm, and Wallis Currie Wood with Evan Roe, Clifton Davis, and José Zúñiga in recurring roles. As U.S. Secretary of State for five years, Elizabeth McCord (Leoni) battled office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals. In the sixth and final season, Elizabeth now holds the highest office in the land with the help of her team. The members include chief of staff Russell Jackson (Ivanek); counselor to the president Mike Barnow (Rahm); press secretary Daisy Grant (Miller); and charming assistant Blake Moran (Bergen). As Elizabeth debates policy and battles opponents on Capitol Hill, that’s just a warm-up for when she’s back at the White House residence with her supportive husband, theology-professor-turned-First-Gentleman Henry (Daly), and their children. It’s there that “politics” and “compromise” take on a new meaning.
Season Six Ratings
The sixth season of Madam Secretary averaged a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.25 million viewers. Compared to season five, that’s down by 23% and 21%, respectively. Find out how Madam Secretary stacks up against other CBS TV shows.

CBS renewed Madam Secretary for a sixth and final season so we already know there won’t be a seventh season. Yes, love the show, but they are not letting the character be strong enough!!
This show is (soon to be was) a left-leaning one which had dreams of Hillary as president & loved by the younger, socialist-leaning audience of mostly women. Letting emotions rule over critical thinking is deleterious to our country. So glad it’s finally cancelled. Perhaps people are finally using the gray matter in their craniums and not letting their hearts bleed for every misfortune happening in this world.
I am terribly dismayed there will not be a Season 7 of Madam Secretary. As others have noted, the cast and writing are excellent; each show focuses and reflects on timely political topics.
The cancellation of this show is most likely due to the lack of sexual depravity, nudity, violence, bad language and destructive, morally reprehensible human behavior. Social norms have deteriorated to all-time lows. While expected, it is sad. God help the next generation!

The shows poor rating is due to incompetence at positioning. Every award show kills an episode, football runs rate, kicks the show back way late. Stupid moves by CBS are at fault. Great show, poor management. Like the powers that be are afraid of political content in entertainment.
Madam Secretary is an AWESOME show, and has an outstanding cast and crew!!! This show mirrors exactly what is happening in our government, and world issues that we face today. Tea Leoni is our favorite actress, and we are so proud that she is such a strong lead character in a great show. The character is perfect for her, and especially now that she is Madam President. I am so stinkin upset that they are taking Madam Secretary off TV!! Every time there is, finally, a Good, wholesome show that gets on TV it gets cancelled. There is So much they could do with this show and storyline. I am so highly upset!!!
I am really upset with CBS right now, because you air football all day on Sunday and then run all of your shows so late and no wonder Madam Secretary doesn’t have good ratings, because you air it too late. If you are going to have football run so late then take off one of the earlier shows, like God Friended Me or NCIS Los Angeles. I like 60 Minutes and I do not like God Friended me and NCIS Los Angeles, I used to like it, but would much rather see Madam Secretary. Please do not discontinue it. Also,… Read more »
I a man really upset with CBS to for cancelling Madam Secretary. It is the fault of the station not the fault of the show. This was one of the best shows CBS has on. CBS you suck.

This show needs to continue because it shows us how t the government should be! I love this show. I’m hoping and praying that CBS will decide to keep it as Madam President! I’m missing Jay and Matt, and Kat but this is a great show. We have to keep this great show on TV, it gives me hope for the future.
