What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, Magnum PI stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill. Recurring performers include Lance Kim, Chantal Thuy, and Martin Martinez. This reboot of the 1980s TV show follows Thomas Magnum (Hernandez), a decorated former Navy SEAL who repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. He lives in a guest cottage on Robin’s Nest, the luxurious estate where he works as a security consultant to supplement his P.I. business. The “majordomo” of the property is Juliet Higgins (Weeks), a beautiful and commanding disavowed MI:6 agent who keeps Magnum in line. When Magnum needs back-up on a job, he turns to his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors, chopper pilot Theodore “TC” Calvin (Hill) and Orville “Rick” Wright (Knighton), a former Marine door-gunner who now runs a nightclub. Magnum frequently has run-ins with police detective Gordon Katsumoto (Kang) and the two are more alike than either cares to admit. The unofficial “House Mom” and cultural curator of Robin’s Nest, Teuila “Kumu” Tuileta (Hill) is also one of Magnum’s biggest fans.
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of Magnum PI averaged a 0.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.24 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 20% in the demo and down by 6% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Magnum PI was cancelled by CBS but was later saved by NBC with a 20 episode renewal. Season five debuts on February 19, 2023. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Will CBS cancel or renew Magnum PI for season five? Despite airing on Friday nights, this series has done pretty well for the network. I’ll keep an eye on the numbers this season but, think it has a good chance of being renewed, possibly for a final season. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Don’t cancel hope the last show were he was trying to prove his friend was innocent of murder a year after he died never haves us a hint was season finally
Yeah because you keep putting on garbage reality shows and new episodes just come out randomly but you say “live viewership is down.” Well no **** no one knows when to tune in to your stupid channels and they find other **** to watch until one magic week we get a new episode just to get re-invested and then left in the dark for weeks or months. CBS,NBC,ABC,FOX you all are ****.

This is the best show on TV…..I loved the original series and this stands up when compared. I’d be gutted if this show was cancelled. Stop renewing all the reality tv trash and keep quality like magnum on air
I’m a fan of this show and want to see a new season.
I really like this show, and I’m pretty picky. I like it because the cases are interesting, the characters are interesting, and it’s not violent. And I like the longer story arcs too, like with TC and Cade. It’s a wholesome family show, not just for families. 🙂 I was pretty skeptical at first, because I watched the original when it was on. The new one isn’t better, and it’s not worse, it’s just updated and different. But still really good, like the original. 😀
Magnum PI should be renewed for the 5th season. The acting is excellent and the plots are usually very intriguing. I never miss an episode.
This is one of the best shows on TV. I look forward to watching it. They rate shows on 18 to 49 age group, that is really not a good way to tate. What were you doing Friday night at 18 to 40? I think changing itje demographic veiwer age would give a more accutate rating.
