A familiar face to NBC viewers is joining the cast of Magnum PI. Michael Rady (Chicago Med, Timeless) has been cast in a recurring role for the upcoming fifth season. Per TV Line, Rady will play Detective Chris Childs of the Honolulu PD. His first appearance will be in the season five premiere.
Starring Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill, the series is a reboot of the classic 1980s series of the same name.
NBC has not yet announced a premiere date for the fifth season of the series. The series was revived and renewed through season six following CBS’ cancellation in May.
What do you think? Are you excited to see Rady on Magnum PI? Are you glad that NBC saved this show?

I am so glad to hear NBC had the smarts to pick up Magnum after CBS dump
Thanks to nbc for renewing magnum pi
I love Michael Rady, so I’m happy to see him in another role. He played the shady doctor on Chicago Med so well, since he usually plays the good guy/leading man. I’m hoping Magnum P.I. keeps its identity as a light-hearted, fun procedural. While it’s already owned by NBCU and I’m glad they saved it, they do tend to like the dark stuff on their network. Hopefully, they won’t ruin it. There’s so much chaos behind the scenes over at Comcast/NBCU right now, between Comcast cutting NBCU’s programming budget by $1B, considering eliminating the 10:00 PM hour next season, their… Read more »
So very happy Magnum is coming back – and with Michael Rady, too! Love him!
Pleased that Magnum PI is returning, It does exactly what I want the shows I invest my time in to do, it entertains me without causing me stress or subjecting me to unnecessary gore.
Looking forward to season 5. Kudos to NBC.
Looking forward to seeing it
OUTSTANDING !!!!
SO glad they picked up Seasons 5 & 6 on NBC, Love the original returning cast and adding Michael Rady is great (as long as we still get Tim Kang!)!! Can’t wait!
Very glad Magnum is coming back!!!!!!
Thanks so much for bring Magnum back, hopefully, soon!!
So happy we will be getting two more seasons of Magnum. Still don’t understand the CBS cancellation but am grateful to NBC for this save.
I agree 100%
Licensing fee. Magnum P.I. is a coproduction between NBCU and CBS. The licensing fee was too high for CBS to justify the expense, since linear ratings are down across the board, particularly for Magnum P.I. They weren’t willing to pay the rate NBCU wanted to broadcast it. NBCU saved it, because they already own it, just like Brooklyn Nine Nine. It’s primarily an NBCU production, but CBS is a co-producer. They wouldn’t have been able to save it, if CBS protested to using the characters.
