Are you watching Manifest? Recently, creator Jeff Rake spoke with Collider about the future of the NBC TV show.
The drama series revolves around the passengers of a routine airline flight that goes missing — and then reappears. The cast includes Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, and Parveen Kaur.
In the interview, Rake revealed he has a long-term plane for Manifest should NBC renewed the series:
In my first incarnation, I did basically have a sense of the ultimate end game, but as anyone who watches or writes television knows, there’s a long way from the beginning to the end. Over the course of the years after I was unsuccessful in getting anyone to bite at the concept, it spent a few years on the shelf. And then, I would noodle with it, and give it more shelf time. And then, I would try to get a producer interested, and noodle with it. Ultimately, I was lucky enough to get Warner Brothers and NBC excited about it last summer. Over the years, I certainly iterated on it throughout. I found some important middle plateaus. And then, it came to me in one fell swoop. The many layers that I intend to bring to the show have been the result of my own contemplating, over the years. Now that I’m working with eight incredibly talented writers in the room with me, I have the benefit of collaborating with all of them to fill in all the gaps in between.”
Rake later added that there are clues planted into each episode of Manifest:
I’d encourage the audience to pay close attention to everything. Anything that’s featured and highlighted, either in dialogue or in a specific cutaway shot to a number or an object, is intentional. We are deliberately planting seeds, and a lot of them will grow into story strands, over the course of the seasons. It’s an organic a process. As we plant these seeds in the writers’ room, we spend a lot of time thinking about where we think the most important strands are and which are the ones that require the most development.”
What do you think? Have you seen Manifest? Do you want a second season?
Please continue the Manifest series…I am keeping clues and must know what really happened!!
I love Manifest please renew for season 2
This program reminds me of the show “Lost”. Just when you think you have figured out what’s probably going to happen next something completely unexpected happen’s! I love it!! Hope NBC renews it.
I’ve been watching this show from the beginning. What the hell osnit about!? It seems the writers don’t know where this show is going either. They make up stupid crap every week. Trust me better shows have had shorter lives . This show is done trust me!! I’m done . Taking it off my dvr. What a piece of crap!!!
6 Seasons? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Would to see all six seasons
By the time a person considers themselves a “television” writer, it’s usually time for them to step aside, and let the younger, up and coming writers, do the heavy lifting. That’s usually the problem. They get worn down by network executives quickly. Better they should move up the creative ladder, do battle with the executives, and leave most of the writing to the younger staffers. They can still write occasionally, but once they’ve hit on the “magic,” they need to supervise what they’ve created.
I enjoy Manifest and say it’s the best new show in a long time…
I have watch Manifest from the start and I say it is the best new show to come along in a long time… I hope it continues….
Manifest is one of he best new shoes and I definitely would watch all six seasons. It’s so refreshing to have something new instead of just rehashing one of the old shoes.
Great show! Hard to wait for the next episode…
I’m liking it. I like mysteries and I want to see more about more of the passengers.
Enjoy very much. Intrigues me like Lost.
The show is decent. But some of the acting sucks. It’s not a bad show.
Oops. A little too impatient :/
