New Amsterdam fans will see more happiness and joy during the upcoming fourth season on NBC. Executive producer David Schulner revealed more about what is to come on the medical drama which focuses on the staff of New Amsterdam Medical Center.
Renewed through its fifth season, Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine star in the NBC medical drama.
Schulner said the following about the upcoming season of New Amsterdam, per TV Insider:
“I really think coming out of this season and pandemic that there’s just going to be more joy all around, more happiness, more love, and rather than struggling against the oppression of the pandemic, our characters get to struggle about chasing their happiness, finding their happiness and keeping it. Episode 1 of Season 4 is called ‘More Joy’ and that really is a proclamation for the season to come.”
Following the events from the season finale, Schulner noted, “It really is about re-evaluating your life after what we’ve all been through and realizing I’m going to desperately hold on to the things that I love and get rid of the things that don’t bring me joy.”
A premiere date for season four of New Amsterdam has not yet been set but it will return in the fall.
What do you think? Are you a fan of New Amsterdam? Do you plan to watch season four on NBC?
My wife and I are huge fans of New Amsterdam and are thrilled to see it renewed. Yes, showing the people enjoying their lives will be a welcome theme. They have struggled for so long, they deserve some happiness.

And a happy Pride month to you too, Christy!
Love the show!! Will definitely be watching it!
Now, I am absolutely hooked on this show, primarily because of Eggold and Agyeman’s characters. The ending of this season’s finale was beautifully heartwarming, so I told two other people about NA. Reading that next season will focus on the joy in life is very good news. One of the last things most of us need right now is bringing more anxiety, uncertainty, and fear into our lives. Deliberately seeking to introducing it into our lives would be absurd, particularly during these times. My very best wishes to the entire DamFam. Hurry September! Oh, what JOY!
Love the show and watch it everytime it comes on
Love the show! I’m so glad it’s coming back!
Keep up the good work, New Amsterdam! You’re ruffling the ‘right’ feathers! 😉
I really like this medical drama. Please show more about the medical aspects of the show and less about the personal lives of the medical staff. After all it’s supposed to be a medical show.
Not sure how a medical director can be expected to run around NY doing ridiculous things and still run a huge hospital successfully without getting fired. Let’s be more realistic and so more less WOKE this next season or we won’t watch pass the first episode. This season was ridiculous in its preaching. I watch TV too be entertained, not preached to, thank you very much. If I wanted that, I would turn on CNN or MSNBC.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this show – please don’t allow it to become a syrupy soap opera
Love this show hope it never ends
