Was tonight’s episode the end for the Salvation TV show? Viewers of the CBS summer drama series were likely shocked by tonight’s finale and it seems unlikely that the cliffhanger will ever be resolved. Do you think the network should renew Salvation for a third season, despite some very low ratings?
A CBS suspense drama, Salvation, stars Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Melia Kreiling, Ashley Thomas, and Ian Anthony Dale. The thriller follows MIT graduate student Liam Cole (Rowe) and tech genius Darius Tanz (Cabrera), who discover that in six months, a huge asteroid will crash into the Earth. In season two, the truth is out. Now that it is no longer a secret, the impending threat elicits both the best and worst from humanity.
The TV series debuted in July 2017 and drew pretty mediocre ratings right from the start with a 0.70 rating in the 18-489 demographic and 4.90 million viewers. The numbers didn’t get any better as the season progressed and ended up averaging a 0.52 in the demo with 3.53 million. Despite the lackluster ratings, Salvation scored a second season renewal.
In season two, the ratings have been even lower. The 12 episodes that have aired thus far have averaged a 0.33 demo rating with 2.67 million viewers. Compared to the first season’s numbers, that’s down by 38% and 24%, respectively.
It’s unclear if CBS Television Studios has a special streaming deal that would help reduce some of the production costs for this series (ala Zoo) but it seems clear that the regular commercial ratings aren’t strong enough to land Salvation a third season.
But, what do you think? Do you think that Salvation should be cancelled or, renewed for a third season — despite the low ratings? Would you watch season three?
I think this show should be renewed!!! I love it!!! The actors are all great. The storyline keeps me in suspense. I agree that many people tape and watch later. I also don’t think there was enough advertising for the show. Please keep it on!!@
Yes Please Renew! We have to know what “it” is!! and what happens next
I agrree with Karrie P
It should be renewed for a 3rd season. There needs to be a final resolution to the issue.
Bring it back!!!!!!!! Or I will never watch CBC again
Please renew for season 3 and a decent ending, at least.
Renew. One of the better summer show thus far
A 3rd season is a must! Look at all the movies (ex. “It’s A Wonderful Life”) and TV series (ex. “Star Trek”) that had poor ratings but turned into incredible success. This series has legs and will do very well moving forward.
Please hell yes!!! It has been the highlight of my summer TV watching.
I have been glued to this and rearranged my Monday nights around the airing of the show. I love all of the characters and their relationship to and with each other. Yesterday’s season finale was GREAT. The last three shows I have been on the edge of my seat trying to guess what was really happening. Please bring it back, I have to know what is going to happen next.
Please renew, I love this show, I sometimes have to record and watch it but I have followed it faithfully. Please do not cancel.
Salvation most definitely deserves a third season! Great plot, complex characters, masterfully played. Santiago Cabrera is brilliant and delivers every scene, every episode. Please renew !!!
I agree with you Edina
Salvation should be renewed for a third season.
Love this show, should not be cancelled without a final ending. Please renew.
Hell yeah! Don’t let this show die!
I’m ready to give up on TV all together if they don’t have a season 3! I’m so tired of the system that they use to decide what comes and goes. Too many people record and watch later. Advertisers need to understand this. More and more people have just quit watching because they know that if they like it, it will probably never be completed and will just another wasted year of hoping to find a conclusion. End the show but end it on season 3! Quit pulling shows or I am many more will cancel watching all together!
Exactly! Firefly, The Crossing, Colony and so many others. I’m getting sick of it as well. But reality crap shows go on forever. Anything that requires a brain gets cancelled. This deserves to have another season, far more than Zoo!
