Strike Back aired its fourth season late in 2015, but there was a huge delay between the end of season three and the return of the series to Cinemax. The reason for that large delay has now been explained, and it was due to an injury suffered by a member of the cast on-set.
Sullivan Stapleton was injured while filming back in February 2014. The fact he was injured was revealed, but the full extent of his injuries were not. He was seriously injured though, and he also spent some time in a coma.
Robson Green spoke about the injury during an appearance at the Winter TCA’s earlier this week. He was promoting his latest project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he said:
“It wasn’t supposed to be me as Geordie Keating. I don’t know if you guys know the story of what happened to Strike Back. Wonderful actor, Sullivan Stapleton, who was in that had a serious accident and was in a coma. We nearly lost him. And, therefore, the show had to stop.”
Stapleton recovered from his injuries, and he now stars on Blindspot on NBC. That series has already been renewed for a second season.
Are you a fan of Strike Back? Are you surprised by the extent of Sullivan Stapleton’s injuries? Tell us what you think.
Please bring it back! Nothing else on tv like it !!
Absolutely a huge fan of Strikeback, and very saddened to hear that there will be no more episodes. To find out the seriousness of Sullivan’s injuries is horrible, and can only hope his health is up to par now. He is excellent in Blindspot, but, I would really love to see him acting, again, with Philip Winchester (who is being thoroughly underused in the series he was stuck into)..or, maybe, Philip and Sullivan could both be used in Blindspot..they work well together, very well. I really miss Strikeback because it fullfills my dream of what true covert operations should be.… Read more »
Yes I was a big fan of “Strike Back”. I enjoyed the chemistry between Sullivan and Phillip. I was sad to learn the show was ending. I had no idea that Sullivan had been so badly injured. I know Sullivan is now on “Blindspot” which I love, but I was hoping that maybe “Strike Back” could be brought back during the times Sullivan is not filming “Blindspot”. Please reconsider and bring this show back to its many fans.
I think it should be renewed, move the remaining star, (Phillip Winchester) as the head honcho and have 2 new people play the bad ass strike force… This should be the formula used for many years. The team loses some members and gains new replacements. Would love to see them work with the US UNIT as well. Another show in this vein I think was cancelled too soon.
Needs to be renewed.
