In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

Pleassseeee bring it back. That was one of the best medical shows on T.V. My mom being a paramedic herself loved it because the stuff they did was so real so i didnt have to hear her yelling ” thats not how you do that.” or ” you cant use that for that” or something along those lines, and it was so intense from the begining to the end so please bring it back.
This show needs to get a chance, it is working out to be the next E.R.
I was looking for a show that would help replace my E.R. void and this one didn’t dissapoint.
I have already watched the first 13 episode season 3X and I am itching for more.
This show is way better than E.R. ever was and much more addicting.
Hello from New Zealand.
The first series of Trauma has just started showing here in New Zealand. And of course we are loving the show because of another of NZ’s great kiwi actors to make it big in the US. “Cliff Curtis” as RABBITT of course….. having said that, we really, really love the show. It is just great, and we especially don’t want to see the show cancelled. Keep up the good work Cliff Curtis. And keep grabbing those great Kiwi actors while you can….
C ya later……….. Donna
Oh my god, you CANNOT cancel Trauma. I too was a religious ER fan, from beginning to end. I was totally psyched for Trauma. It makes the lose of ER easier. I agree that if this show is given a chance it could very well be the next ER. Please, please do NOT take Trauma off the air. I may be forced to stop watching NBC all together. Stop teasing with great shows and then taking them away. Give Trauma a chance to survive! It Rocks!
Please I beg you don’t take trama off the air NBC. That’s a wonderful show, declerating the firefighters and paramedics & doctors in the show. I know there just actors, but this show and it’s producer the boss man let’s the viewers know even the real life emergency workers have that kind of adreneline rush saving lifes so that we can survive this world that we live in. and our children can get a better understanding what their father or mother does in the fire&rescue department. God Bless all those brave firefighters & paramedics in this country of ours Love… Read more »
Please Trama was the best show in a long time can take or leave Mercy but my Monday nights are so borning now please bring it back and keep it on perhaps changing the day and time may help. It had been on for awhile before I noticed it. Now I had others interested in it and than it was gone. I hate it when they take things off the air and we don’t find out. I had to do a google search to get the news
Yo!! Cancel ’tis n’ git’ yerself sum black showz!
Great show, please bring it back. Mercy is OK but Trauma is so much better. It can be the next ER.
I am not sure we saw all 13 original episodes – I don’t think so. My son and I like it very much, and were disappointed when we thought it would be ending. We’re glad more episodes are in the offing. I think producers DON’T ALLOW ENOUGH TIME for new shows to be known about, watched, and “catch on” – they let initial ratings have too much weight. Obviously, cutting costs will help, since ambulances, helicopters, etc. are expensive to operate. This is a medical show, but it’s quite different from most others, and should have a change to “prove… Read more »
Please don’t cancel Trauma it’s my favorite show…. I missed not watching it on Monday nights..
Keep the show…
Please keep Trauma… Love this Show. Stop canceling the new shows I like !!!!
Please keep Trauma – I love it – but work on the “reality” of the show.
Example: “The helicopter getting stolen and put down in the street” episode was just so totally fake looking with some bad acting.
I love the characters though.
I agree with the others, I too enjoy Trauma more than Mercy. Why not take off a reality show instead.
Please do not cancel show! I absolutely LOVE this show!!!!!! I have missed it coming on and can’t wait until March when it come back on. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THE SHOW!!!!!!!~~~~
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL IT!! I love this show. I was a HUGE ER fan and was devistated when it was canceled, I felt like Trauma maybe could fill my need for some ER type drama. I loved it. If you have to cancel a medical show I vote for Mercy, even though I do watch that one too. But I definately like Trauma more.
I agree with you! I watch Mercy too and if they take medical show off take Mercy and leave Trauma! Thank you for your comment. God Bless you!
