Move over Outlaw, NBC has cancelled another new series. The spy dramedy Undercovers is ending its run after 13 episodes.
Undercovers revolves around a married pair of former spies who are pulled back into service after their close friend goes missing. The TV show features the talents of Boris Kodjoe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mekia Cox, Carter MacIntyre, Gerald McRaney, and Ben Schwartz.
The series stumbled right out of the gate and attracted a disappointing 2.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 8.7 million viewers. In week two, the demo fell by 24% to a 1.6 rating and the numbers essentially kept on falling. Last night’s episode hit a new demo low with a 1.3 rating and 5.913 million total viewers.
Though NBC ordered four additional scripts in mid-October, the studio suspected that that show’s been doomed for quite awhile. Today, the network made it official — Undercovers has been cancelled.
It remains to be seen if fans of the series will get to see all 13 installments. Seven episodes have aired so far and three more are scheduled for November 10th, November 17th, and December 1st. NBC has a Shrek holiday special scheduled for Thanksgiving eve (November 24th) and The Sing-Off will take over the timeslot on December 8th.
Three episodes of Undercovers will be left on the shelf at that point and the network will decide at a later date if or when they’ll air.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Undercovers is coming to an end? Why do you think it didn’t catch on? How would you have fixed it?

I never blog about anything. The news of this wonderful show being canceled deserves to be mentioned. I loved the show, the plots and the chemistry between to two main characters. I seriously hope NBC considers bringing it back. There has been a void since this shows abrupt departure from the air.
Typical of NBC — they don’t give a show a chance. We stumbled upon it and thought it was cute. Alot better than some of those “hits” on CBS …[ I can’t believe anybody is stupid enough to watch those.] Also, networks are forever cancelling shows for one reason or another ! You can’t build a following if you don’t air the shows. And for many of us who like to record and watch later… guess we are out of luck! BTW…. I don’t see why they are aiming for that particular age group… they might want to consider that… Read more »
I can’t believe that show was canceled…they need to bring it back. There is no good shows left on TV. This was one of the good ones…I guess I will have to watch yet another fricking REALTY tv show about some spoiled famous person. These were good actors and the show was good. BRING IT BACK……BRING IT BACK….BRING IT BACK!!!! It was like a modern Hart to Hart…my husband and I looked so forward to watching it…I can’t believe this. Well I guess NBC won’t be one I turn to for TV!!!!
THERE WASN’T ENOUGH PUBLICITY AND ADVERSTISING. I just happened accross it one day read the diecription and thought I would check it out, I did and I instantly liked it. I went online to get caught up and now it’s being canceled. I hope they will reconsider and this time advsertise.
Canceling Undercovers is yet another reason NBC is always at the bottom of the 3 networks-it is a well written, clever, captivating show with gorgeous and talented actors and I am angry it was cancelled!I’m a 62 yr old white woman and love the show – BRING IT BACK!!!!
Wtf is wrong with You NBC I Just Found out that one of the best upcoming show was cancled i cant believe it ive been waiting 3 weeks to see more episodes and yall canceled damn dushes …Ugghhhhh!
Undercovers was a good, clean show with some laughs. The main characters have a lot of charm and go together well. It’s enjoyable entertainment better than other shows still on the air. NBC needed to support the show with better advertising. It was a better choice than “The Cape”. It was at least one show I could watch on NBC now I’ll just be watching the other networks.
The show teases you to the verge of the sublime, but fails in the delivery what made 24 a hit. Suspense/action/mix with drama. Remove the comedy and suit it up for a comeback. The last aired episode was the best attempt at this.

I do not believe a tv series should be continued just because the lead characters are black (or whatever race). However, I do believe a series should continue if it is well written and acted. This series, “Undercovers,” was reasonably well written and definitely well acted by all actors. I, too, loved the scenery and the action. However, I loved the banter between the lead characters. This was such a refreshing show which is bordered on all sizes by blood and gore and soft porn shows which passes as entertainment for Americans, unto which we subject our children, daily! Castle on ABC and Undercovers on NBC were two weekly shows that I would not miss!! Now, NBC is cancelling U/C and ABC is having a dispute with TWCable and I see both of my favorites disappearing! Another new show was cancelled after only two episodes, and later the ratings were quite good……this tells me these networks are not giving some of them a fair chance. Makes me want to go out and buy movies and forget about TV.
I finally found a series that my 76 year old brother and I enjoyed together and it seems it is cancelled. I enjoyed Undercovers and hope that it returns.
There aren’t very many TV shows that I like but this was one of them. Love the characters, love the plots & the actors. Would love to see it come back.
give it to BET or TV one
I am very disappointed that Undercovers is cancelled. It is a great show, bring it back! I watch this show every week, it has excitement, drama and chracters are great! BRING IT BACK!
I am so disappointed that Undercovers has been cancelled. I looked forward to watching it each week because it was so interesting. There were beautiful scenes, beautiful people, and lots of action. The subject of race must come up about this show because it was the only one on the network that had two black leads in it. NBC did not advertise this show well. I saw a few and I mean a few previews prior to the debut episode and I rarely saw an ad afterwards. Since the show was one of a kind it would have been nice… Read more »
