Golden Boy: Cancelled, No Second Year for CBS Series

Golden Boy canceled, no season twoOfficer Walter Clark’s story has been cut short. CBS has cancelled Golden Boy after one season and 13 episodes.

Airing on Tuesday nights, Golden Boy tells the tale of a young and ambitious New York cop (Theo James) who rises quickly through the department’s ranks to become the youngest Police Commissioner in NYC history. The cast also includes Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany, and Stella Maeve.

The network was hoping that Golden Boy would perform better than Vegas — and for awhile, it looked like it might. Unfortunately, Golden Boy’s ratings ended up being pretty bad, particularly in the 18-49 demographic.

The episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 1.4 in the demo with 8.3 million total viewers. It’s one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.

The last episode, titled “Next Question,” will air next Tuesday night.

What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Golden Boy has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see in season two?

Golden Boy is a great show! You are stupid letting this go. If CBS isn’t smart enough to keep it, I hope some other network will pick it up. Excellent actors & great story lines. Whoever decided is ignorant!!

This is SAD!!! You won’t keep Golden Boy but you keep stupid shows like How I Met Your Mother!!! Without Neil Patrick Harris you would have no show!! You Execs are so stupid it makes me feel like Albert Einstein!

So angry CBS is canceling Golden Boy, great great show! But, they keep the crap on…forever. This has great acting, stories that are believable. Good moral character. This is a disgrace!

What a mistake. This was a quality show. CBS is going the way of NBC.

What a shame to cancel. Great way they start each show – unlike any others. Please keep on the air. For a change there is a show that doesn’t have swearing and constant potting mouth.

Anyone else on here remember “East Side/West Side” with George C Scott and Cicely Tyson? It was considered to be ahead of it’s time, and CBS cancelled it too!!!

We were subjected to endless promos for this series prior to release. Sooo, we gave it a shot, and we liked it! Now CBS is following the sudden death formula (whatever that is) and cancelling it. This seems to be a common formula among ALL TV networks. You know, CHEERS was not so popular in the first couple of seasons, and it turned out to be a classic. I recently read a blog someone wrote that they will not watch any new show until the second season (if there is one). That way, you can bet it will be around awhile. Good idea.

ALL of these comments are correct!! Golden Boy is an awesome show, we’ve watched every episode since it came out……… The norm around here is to say “Oh, yeah, it’s Tuesday…. Golden Boy is on tonight!” ….. and we clock our bathing and everything so that we don’t miss it! And Elementary is a great show……. and The Mentalist and Hawaii Five-0, Mike and Molly, etc, etc, etc……… They’re ALL good shows!!! Know what? Your channel is gonna lose a whole lot of viewers if and or when you cancel all these shows. Noone will want to watch your channel any more.

CBS, quite simply, you SUCK! Ratings is all that matter with you people. You don’t care about the viewers. Instead of giving this quality program another chance on a better day and timeslot….you cancel it instead. And Rules of engagement too? After 7 years., you screwed with that show! You should be ashamed of yourselves. But, again, we as viewers, know better. Why even watch TV anymore? All you do is cancel everything that’s good, and leave on the air all the crap shows! Again, CBS, YOU SUCK!
