There won’t be a second act for Ruby Red. Netflix has cancelled the AJ and the Queen TV series after one season of 10 episodes.
AJ and the Queen stars RuPaul Charles, Izzy G., Michael-Leon Wooley, Josh Segarra, Katerina Tannenbaum, and Tia Carrere. In the story, Ruby Red (Charles) is a bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck drag queen. She travels across America from club to club in a rundown 1990’s R/V with her unlikely sidekick AJ (G.), a recently orphaned, tough-talking and scrappy 11-year-old stowaway. As the two misfits — one tall and one small — travel from city to city, Ruby’s message of love and acceptance winds up touching people and changing their lives for the better.
The series was created by Charles and Michael Patrick King, a creator on shows like 2 Broke Girls and The Comeback. The first season of AJ and the Queen was released on January 10th of this year.
Charles broke the news that the show has been cancelled. On Twitter, he wrote, “End of the road for “AJ and The Queen”. Netflix has decided to not extend our road trip across America. Thank you for all the love & support. We’re so very proud of the work.”

What do you think? Did you watch the AJ and the Queen TV show? Would you have watched season two on Netflix?
I really enjoyed watching the show. It was funny and entertaining and tug at your heart. All the acting was done really well, especially the outstanding performance of Izzy G for her role of AJ! She stole the show! It’s really too bad and disheartening that Netflix canceled this wonderful little story. I was hoping they would get on another road trip and continue down the road and for another season of zany stories! Before I watch the show, I really didn’t think that I would like it. However, the shows zany characters and funny jokes, coupled with the banter… Read more »
Ja! Jag vill se en andra säsong av AJ and The Queen.
Yes I loved it bring it back
Wtffffffff bring the show backkkkkkk
Bring it back millions need it to help us get thru each day
Please bring it back.. This show got me through a tough time in my life. I was really hoping for a season 2.
I am a straight man of 73 years of age, and I LOVED the tenderness of this program and am amazed at the acting prowess of Izzy G. ! It’s a shame that this show was not renewed for another season. It touches all people and not just the LGBT COMMUNITY!!!
Yes it needs a second season, the way it ends in the first is not a good way to leave it.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE SHOW …STOP CANCELLING GREAT SHOWS
My daughter and I fell in love with this series and have been waiting for season 2. We need a season 2! I am so tired of shows being cancelled especially when they are good! Bring it back!
This show deserves a 2nd season. While I do not personally support the life preferences of the “community”, the message is bigger and in a time of so such hate and intolerance it is badly needed. On a side note, I would like to see AJ’s language and near psychotic out of control behavior reined in a bit.
This was a wonderful series…OH NO THEY BETTER DON’T ‘re-think this NETFLIX and continue this series!
There is so much that the show could’ve been ! Why cancel it ? With out a reason! I need answers! This entire show kept me on my toes and delt with real issues that every one needed to see ! I noticed netflix has gotten rid of a lot of the Gay themed shows and movies but why ?
I can not express how upset I am!!! This show is more than just a story line! I have never given a “thumbs up” to a Netflix show before but did this one. Truly upset to not have …..more!!!
Soooooo dang upset I was so looking forward to a second season PLEASE reconsider!!! I know at least 3 others OBSESSED with this show we NEED MORE!!!
