What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, the Big Sky TV series stars Katheryn Winnick, Kylie Bunbury, Brian Geraghty, Dedee Pfeiffer, Omar Metwally, Anja Savcic, Janina Gavankar, and Logan Marshall-Green with John Carroll Lynch, Jesse James Keitel, Patrick Gallagher, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Madelyn Kientz, Troy Johnson, Lola Reid, Jeremy Ray Taylor, T.V. Carpio, Arturo Del Puerto, Vinny Chhibber, Romy Rosemont, Ryan O’Nan, Michael Malarkey, and David Meunier in recurring roles. The story begins with private detective Cassie Dewell (Bunbury) and ex-cop Jenny Hoyt (Winnick) joining forces to search for two kidnapped sisters. In season two, with fugitive Ronald Pergman (Geraghty) still on the loose, Cassie distracts herself with work at the detective agency while Jenny, recovering from her near-death experience, decides to take Sheriff Tubb (Gallagher) up on his offer for her to rejoin the force. While the two move in different directions, it’s not long before a mysterious accident leads them to cross paths again.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Big Sky averaged a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.60 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (includes all DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season one, that’s down by 45% in the demo and down by 26% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. Though other economic factors are involved, the higher-rated shows usually get renewed and the lower-rated ones get cancelled. Find out how Big Sky stacks up against other ABC TV shows.
Big Sky has been renewed for a third season which will debut on September 21, 2022. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Big Sky for season three? Last season, this series had a strong start but the ratings slipped quite a bit as the first season progressed. The network clearly wants it to be a success so the programmers gave it the coveted post-Grey’s Anatomy timeslot. Unfortunately, that move doesn’t seem to have helped the ratings. I have doubts that this show will be renewed. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for free alerts on Big Sky cancellation or renewal news.
5/13/22 update: Big Sky has been renewed.

What do you think? Are you glad that the Big Sky TV show has been renewed for a third season? How would you feel if ABC cancelled this TV series, instead?
One of the best shows on TV please bring it back
Love this show!! Bring it back!!!
Bring big sky back
This show is very good do not cancel please
Instead of canceling it how about just move it to Disney+?
I liked this one at first? But the characters are beginning to annoy me a little. The whole “Cassie’s Emotional Wall” thing is getting boring. Admittedly, I was kind of glad to see Jerrie go? That character sticking around after being rescued didn’t make sense. The whole admin job at the PI office wasn’t believable. Nor was the ‘almost romance’ with what’s-his-name. C’mon. Then, speaking of him: Let’s hand an inexperienced civilian a weapon, then bring her along to “Take Ronnie DOWN” because she “knows him”. That was silly. It was very obvious that they didn’t know what to do… Read more »
Show started season 1 with promise.Season 2 terribly boring and confusing.
ABC keep Big Sky. Love this show!
Maybe if ABC didn’t air the show for three weeks and then take a three week break, come back for two episodes and take another three week break, they wouldn’t have so many people lose interest! It’s stupid programming to take that many long breaks-common sense would tell you that-especially for a new show.
Just when a show takes off they remove it that’s about bright ! Really takes brain’s makes you not want to start any series as you never know if they will end it before its time.
Abc stinks do not take my show off it was just getting really good atleast let them have another season do we that watch you’re channel can finish the show
There are too many cliffhangers from Season 2: (1) aren’t we still looking for Ronald? (2) Travis is undercover; (3) the drugs and the money that the teens found; (4) Dunno and his accomplish are still looking for the drugs, plus her brother is getting ready to enter Big Sky to find out what his sister has been up to; (5) Ronald’s captor … There NEEDS to be two more Seasons!!!
It would be a shame if Big Sky was to be cancelled . its the best show on TV.
They better not cancel big sky dam it season 3 should already be done an ready for next Thursday night dam it don’t start the ******** let’s get season 3 rolling dam it
Please make a season 3. Ive been checking Hulu to see if any new episodes have been uploaded to it. So sad to know it hasn’t even been renewed! Don’t forget about us streamers!! A lot of us stream these days so check those ratings
I love Big Sky. I watched tonight and it said it won’t be back for 3 weeks again!!! Why??? That makes people loose interest waiting 3 weeks again, thinking it’s gone!!! I am very disappointe.
