Some upsetting news for fans of Divergent. According to MStars News, neither Shailene Woodley nor Theo James will return for the movie franchise’s planned TV series.
Last year, it was reported the film franchise would wrap up its final installment, Ascendant, as a possible TV movie or show. Based on the book series by Veronica Roth, Divergent stars Shailene Woodley as Beatrice Prior, a young woman who lives in a dystopian society split into factions. The cast also includes Theo James, Ashley Judd, Ray Stevenson, and Ansel Elgort.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Woodley confirmed she would not be joining the Divergent TV series. Now, TooFab is reporting Theo James will also not be returning for Divergent: Ascendant. What this means for the planned TV project is unclear. No further details have been released.

liongate, please just do the final movie with the original cast!!i can not bear finishing the entire series with out them. The chemistry with all of the actors, especially theo and shailene is something that cannot be reproduced with new cast in the final movie.
I personally will not pay to see final without them.
They need to finish the last movie .It has to happen, if you want to make a series after that’s fine. But the move needs to be done with the original cast
Very upsetting. I won’t be watching the finale without the original actors. I loved all the movies so far so do not understand why they would even consider not having them in the last movie!
I won’t be watching the last installment without the main characters. It won’t be the same without Tris and Four.
If the main characters refuse to take part in tv movie or show. Then they should just stick with the theater movie. N they should be thinking about the fans. So many fans are not going to watch it. N everybody gonna lose so money by working on this, by doing this tv movie or show. N they are gonna regret it after. No I will not be watching the last t.v. installment. I too have bought all three dvds and watch them a lot. Number one I don’t have cable. I won’t pay money to watch shows I don’t really like. I refuse to pay for pay preview. That is a waste of money. Even if I had cable I still would not watch it. I think they should not change characters like that.
