What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, the Good Sam TV show stars Sophia Bush, Jason Isaacs, Skye P. Marshall, Michael Stahl-David, Omar Maskati, Davi Santos, Wendy Crewson, and Edwin Hodge. In the story, Doctor Sam Griffith (Bush) is a gifted heart surgeon who excels in her new leadership role as chief of surgery at Lakeshore Sentinel Hospital. The former chief of surgery, her former boss and renowned father, Doctor Rob “Griff” Griffith (Isaacs), had fallen into a coma. When Griff wakes up months later demanding to resume his duties, Sam is tasked with supervising this egotistical expert with a scalpel who never acknowledged his daughter’s stellar talent. As Griff defies Sam’s authority and challenges her medical expertise, the big question becomes whether this father and daughter will ever be able to mend their own relationship as expertly as they heal the hearts of their patients.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Good Sam averaged a 0.25 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.20 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Find out how Good Sam stacks up against other CBS TV shows.
Good Sam has been cancelled, so there will not be a second season. Could it be revived someday? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Will CBS cancel or renew Good Sam for season two? While the network has plenty of crime and procedural dramas, CBS doesn’t have any other medical dramas on the schedule. That could help the series’ chances but, it’s also the lowest-rated scripted series on the network. Good Sam could be renewed but I think it will most likely be cancelled instead. 5/13/22 update: Good Sam has been cancelled so there won’t be a second season on CBS.

What do you think? Were you hoping that the Good Sam TV show would be renewed for a second season? Are you sorry that CBS cancelled this TV series, instead?
I like Good Sam Has good Variety Of Different medical Issues
And how they solve it work together to come up with good Solutions
How they INTERACT With EACH OTHER
And funny too!
To me, I feel Good Sam is an excellent tv drama. there are so many things to do with different plot lines. I don’t think the show has been given a fair chance and I hope very much that it is renewed on CBS.
My husband and I love the show. We hope there is more cause I would hands down watch it. I love Sophia Busch and think she’s a great actress. Please come with a second season and give it a chance.
I agree with Linda, I have watched all 6 episodes and with each one it got better and better. I told my friend June about it and she is hooked now. It would be a shame to cancel it. It I is a great show. I love watching it!!!
Absolutely. Agree
I watched all 6 episodes and loved every episode. Each episode got better. Hoping there is a season 2.
If I were to get shot at my job, recover and prove I’m recovered…I would get my previous position back. Not have a show made about family drama.
I would watch a second season
it sucks
It is too staged for my liking. Not realistic drama. It has a weak and unbelievable plot. I won’t watch it again. Bad show.
I absolutely adore Sophia Bush, she should have never left Chicago P.D. , Good Sam is awful, I’m so sorry to say. It’s too bad, very disappointed.
Thank God she did, Chicago P.D. is so much better without her.
Absolutely the worst show ever! Such a dirty shame with the handful of a decent cast & crew. It took everything in me to just get through the first 2 episodes. Unless this takes a 180° turn it will indeed be 1 & done.
Me too! I barely got through the 1st episode
Agree! I made it through the whole season (mostly trying to give it a good chance) but the storylines are just awful and IMHO got worse as they went. Shame to waste the talent on crappy storyline. Nothing to endear us to any of the characters; well, maybe 1.
After two episodes Good Sam is DFL on CBS. Of the 20 scripted shows on that network it is 20th in both total viewers per episode and demo rating per episode. Enjoy it while you can. (Which might not be much longer.) It will never get renewed for season 2.
I loved ‘GoodSam,’ and Sophia Bush was wonderful. All this show needs is Jesse Lee Soffer. I also think Jesse needs ‘Good Sam.’
LOL Why are people still obsessed with him working with Sophia, when she’s moved on from that relationship? She’s engaged to someone else, happily. She gushed about it, when she announced it in August. Jesse doesn’t need to lower himself to a lesser show when he’s on a hit show that just killed Good Sam in the ratings last week. He’s not leaving Chicago P.D. Please move on from this, like Sophia has.
I have waited for Good Sam since I first heard about it. I am a fan of Sophia Bush . I love medical shows. This one is done fairly well. Seeing her now becoming in charge of her father. She was excellent on Chicago PD. I will keep watching. Please give this show a chance!
Amen.
Season 2?
Umm, no
I strongly disagree!
Ratings say otherwise. Unless they get that demo to at least a 0.5 and the live audience to a minimum of 3 million and significantly improve in the Live+7 ratings, this show is one and done. CSI: Vegas had better numbers with a worse lead-in all fall.
