The mystery will be short lived. London Spy creator Tom Rob Smith has said he wants his upcoming BBC America series to end after the first season.
London Spy premieres on BBC America on January 21st.
Speaking at the TCA winter press tour, Rob Smith confirmed that the spy series will be limited to five episodes. The series stars Ben Whishaw as Danny, a London party boy who becomes involved in romantic relationship with Alex (Edward Holcroft), a mysterious stranger who Danny later discovers works for the British intelligence agency MI6.
Rob Smith said that extending the series to more episodes would lose “the clarity of that journey” in the first season. Supposedly, the cable channel has yet to make a decision.
Will there be #LondonSpy S2? It's not whether we can do it, it's whether it's the best thing to do, per @tomrobsmith. No decision yet #TCA16

Yes there should be another season even if its only another 5 episodes it has left us hanging, especially when we find out what truly happened to Alex. The writer surely owes us this much a great show. Maybe the writer could writer a happier ending to the season 2. Here hoping!!!
