What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, the New Amsterdam TV show stars Ryan Eggold, Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman, Jocko Sims, and Tyler Labine, with Michelle Forbes, Sandra Mae Frank, Shiva Kalaiselvan, and Chloe Freeman recurring. Doctor Max Goodwin (Eggold) is a caring physician whose goal is to fix a broken medical system and to provide exceptional care to the people who need it most. He inspires (almost) everyone around him, and will stop at nothing to breathe new life into the understaffed, underfunded, and underappreciated New Amsterdam Medical Center. Those working with Goodwin include Dr. Lauren Bloom (Montgomery), the head of the ER; oncologist Dr. Helen Sharpe (Agyeman); cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Sims); and psychiatrist Dr. Iggy Frome (Labine). In season four, following a tough year, it’s a new chapter in the characters’ lives, focused on finding more joy. That may not be easy with the addition of Dr. Veronica Fuentes (Forbes) to the team. In an effort to help turn around the overburdened and underfunded hospital, her first order of business is to tear down every progressive program Max has erected.
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of New Amsterdam averaged a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.20 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 19% in the demo and down by 12% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Ok I loved the show in the beginning; however it went political and the climate change was more important than patients lives. What a mistake you have made. I no longer watch as the main Doctor acts like he has no mind.

Dr. Reynolds shouldn’t be with the married lady. He deserves better. She will cheat on him too eventually.
I would be very disappointed if the show is cancelled. Bring Max and Helen back. They are the characters that make it most interesting for me. Also Drs. Bloom & Reynolds. Fuentes got to go. Take her out. She’s not in line with the theme of the show. Her character is too hard, dishonest, bitchy. Please keep Bloom and her girlfriend together. They are good together. Find a storyline where together Max and Helen find a way to get the hospital to make more money
The background music is very loud and distracting. It is very annoying when you can’t hear the dialogue because of the sound effects. There is zero chemistry between Max and Helen.
You need to keep Max and the Dr that is his girlfriend on the show, but Dr. Veronica Fuentes needs to get off of New Amsterdam. She is very stressful in a bad way for me. I did not like her part on Chicago Fire and I do not like her character on New Amsterdam. Please get her off soon I can’t keep watching her she’s just too stressful. I will have to not watch any more until you get her off. Thank you for listening.
That new lady that they hired to take over new Amsterdam the writers need to get her off the show for good and keep Max in the hospital. I didn’t like that lady when she was on Chicago Fire and I don’t like her on New Amsterdam. Get rid of her.
I most likely won’t watch if Max leaves the show. Too many people have already left.
I loooove New Amsterdam! I’m actually enjoying it more than Grey’s! So underrated. Please give us more marketing and season 6!
Love the show keep it going
I love this show. If Max leaves (he is the show) I will probably not watch. I like all the story lines of all the doctors. How they work together helping people. Great cast . But won’t be the show it is now with out Max and his honey. Sorry for the show if you take them off.
