Although Syfy has added other genres to its repertoire of late, science-fiction is still is bread and butter. Since it cancelled The Expanse (which was later saved by Amazon), it was in need of another series set in space. Enter the Nightflyers TV show. Based on a novella and short stories collection from Game of Thrones‘ George R. R. Martin, does this new series have what it takes to score in the Nielsen ratings race? Will Nightflyers be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A Syfy psychological thriller from showrunner Jeff Buhler, Nightflyers stars Gretchen Mol, Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, Angus Sampson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phillip Rhys, Gwynne McElveen, Brían F. O’Byrne, Bronte Carmichael, and Miranda Raison. Set in 2093, the story centers on the passengers and crew of the advanced spacecraft, The Nightflyer, which embarks on a mission to make contact with a mysterious alien at the edge of our solar system, with the help of a lethal L-1 empath.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like the Nightflyers TV series? Should this Syfy TV show be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*2/19/19 update: Syfy has cancelled Nightflyers so there won’t be a second season.
Looking forward to Season 2!!!!!

Brilliant can’t wait for season 2
Totally and completely loved this! I want more NOW.
Renew!!! Great cast and characters. Show us what happens next!
I liked Nightflyers very much. Hope it returns. Very intriguing story line and characters.
Renew!!!
I loved the show. I am a syfy pureist and would enjoy a second season to answer so many questions. I think GRR Martin did a fabulous job with the book, but in all honstly, my hat’s off to the actors of this series – not too much, just right. Love Thale – anyway…. would be excited to see Seson 2 with Thale taking a more predominant role in helping exchange communication with the people of earth. There are so many possibilities with the ending, but in all honesty, I am hoping to see the conclusion of what each individual… Read more »
Why was the pod empty at the end then
Season two now! Pretty please. All I want for the holidays is Nightflyers season two.
They have to bring it back. As an actual tv series, like seasons worth of series, it is or it could be a truly great sci fi show. But, if it’s only these ten episodes we get- well then that would be a real kick to the groin. It wasn’t good/told enough for a stand alone series, simply because it has way too much potential and there is still so much more we need to see. I want to see allot more of those L1’s, whether through flash back or whatever, we need to see more of these guys. Same… Read more »
finished season one … im gonna be mad if this goes the way of stargate universe …it should get a second season however that being said the ending can either be taken at face value or as a cliff hanger. i do think if syfy doesn’t go for a second season netflix hulu or amazon would be smart to pick it up and advertise it a little better or do a true binge release and drop it all at once
Love the show, I’m hooked.
Great show. Please bring back in season two
How did they release so many episodes so quickly. After seeing the first two aired I missed the next 3 before realizing this was a marathon of sorts with a few days off here or there. SYFY should have done a little more to sell possible viewers on the idea that this is a SYFY Nightflyers Marathon. Oldest problem in the world, good product terrible advertisement. Took me over a year before finding out Thomas Jane was in The Expanse and of coursed binged watched as much as I could.
Netflix and On Demand my friend. Binge watching is the new format.
This wasn’t meant to see past season 1 right? I mean why launch all episodes at once? it was just a mini series or am I wrong?
Every episode was released on all platforms (on-demand, online and app). They are trying to satisfy the binge crowd.
I am 2 episodes in & I like it a lot so far…it keeps me curious as to what is going to happen.
