Get ready for Project Grizzly on Animal Planet. The new series will arrive on the network next month, and it will show how one man introduces two rescued bears back into the wild.
Animal Planet released a press statement about this new series. Check it out below.
Bear trainer Jeff Watson has worked with the majestic animals for more than 20 years but recently decided his two rescue bears should be introduced to the wild. In Animal Planet’s new series PROJECT GRIZZLY, viewers join him on his emotional struggle to do right by his beloved bears as he teaches Bob and Screech, his two 700-pound grizzlies, how to survive in the deep wild. The six-part adventure premieres Saturday, November 12th at 10PM ET/PT on Animal Planet.
After making a life of rescuing and raising bears, Jeff Watson had an epiphany – bears do not belong in captivity. Jeff sets out to reverse the cycle of man’s ownership over animals starting with Bob and Screech. Saving them at just six weeks old, he raised them as his family and now believes after three years, their destiny is to live in the wild.
PROJECT GRIZZLY follows Jeff as he embarks on a challenging mission to teach his bears how to be wild. To do that, he has to undo all Bob and Screech have learned in captivity. Settled in a remote location in Indiana, he teaches Bob and Screech how to fend for themselves by hunting and fishing, learning to hibernate and ultimately break their dependence on Jeff. While Jeff understands this is an incredible and dangerous challenge, he is sometimes plagued with doubt when faced with unforeseen hurdles, but his determination to bring these bears to their true home keeps Jeff focused.
PROJECT GRIZZLY is produced for Animal Planet by This is Just a Test. Aengus James, Colin King Miller, and Myles Reiff are the executive producers for This is Just a Test. For Animal Planet, Keith Hoffman is the executive producer, Pat Dempsey is the producer and the series was developed by Kurt Tondorf.

This is a fantastic series! I got totally hooked into watching the first episode in the middle of the night, and really want to watch the remaining episodes. I have had to do much research on my laptop, to see if I can find the other Project Grizzly shows online. I really hope I will be able to see the rest of the experience with Jeff and his bear family. I hope it continues. GREAT PROGRAM! LOVE IT!
I LOVE this show. My 8 year old son and I laughed and cried. My son really enjoyed it.
I LOVED the show i am certain i watched all of the series but was very sad that i could never see what happened – it appeared that the bear with the bad foot may not make it to be released but the show never came back.. BRING IT BACK .. we need more clean healthy shows = reality – way too much junk on tv lately . This was a very good show
Loved the show and look forward to November 12 when the series will began again.
This “Project Grizzly” is one of my favorite shows on Animal Planet”! Really, our whole family would love to watch the rest of the series. Is this ever going to happen?
Thank you kindly in advance for your answers!
Sincerely,
The Doll Family, from Wisconsin!
Loved the series….could watch it for hours. Learn so much observing those animals interact with Jeff. Humans could do better by learning from these animals behaviors. They, at least, are honest! This is a truly a unique show. PLEASE continue it. Needs MORE advertising for everyone to be aware of it!!!!
Would love to see more! Do they get to be released into the wild? He could be the next steve irwan. Hope you keep this going.
Looking for the rest of project Grizzly can’t seem to find it it was the best Animal Planet show what a disappointment not knowing what happened glad dr. Jeff is back
I love this show!! Where is the final story. Do they get released?
I Love This show. The relationship and the love Jeff has for Bob and Screech is amazing. He is such a remarkable human being. I so look forward to more of the show but like Jeff it’s going to being very upsetting when he releases the Bears but wonderful for the Bears to have their freedom to live in the wild. Thank you fir the show.
Where does PG take place?
Project Grizzly was excellent viewing. I watched it from here in Scotland & it was very popular around the UK. It was amazing watching the relationship Jeff has with Bob & Screech. You just know that Jeff will do the right thing for his bears – they’re family members after all! A top quality guy on a likewise top quality programme. Well done Animal Planet….can we have Series 2 soon please!
Really like the show, can’t wait to see more.
We find almost all TV programming to be neither entertaining or informative, but Project Grizzly is both. The program was recommended to us and we would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for meaningful TV programing.
Love the show. I would have a hard time releasing them into the wild too, but there is a cycle of life to all animals that’s larger than us. I love bears but they should have that chance to live free if only for a short time.
