MTV is trying something new with the fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles. Will their gamble pay off and bring big ratings or will it flop? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Set millennia in the future, The Shannara Chronicles follows three unlikely heroes — a human, an elf princess, and a human-elf — on their quest to thwart a demonic army. The cast includes Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, Emilia Burns, Austin Butler, Poppy Drayton, Aaron Jakubenko, Daniel MacPherson, and John Rhys-Davies.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like The Shannarra Chronicles TV show? Do you think that it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I’m not really into these “fantasy” kinda shows, but the commercials piqued my interest. Started watching and glad I did. Its entertaining and keeps you engaged. I never read the books, so didn’t know what to expect. Its hard to believe this type of production value on a show that is on MTV. Hope it stays. Scripted shows have a tough go at it on MTV.
Terry Brooks is a top notch fantasy writer and has contributed to the writing on this series. I’m loving it so far. I think Ivana Baquero is a breakout star. I can hardly believe she is only 16.
Just so you know, Ivana is actually 21, 22 this summer.
I like the show so far but that blonde guy, Austin Butler, is way out of his league for those babes. Love the women in the show, all babes, especially the leader of the guard (Emilia Burns, she’s so beautiful). The transformer sword of the druid is cool (that actor, Manu Bennett, is cool too), the concept of LOTR in the future is interesting, and John Rhys Davies in anything makes it better automatically.
i read all the books this series is not even close and has little to recommend it i wonder if the writers even read the books i am very disappointed so far hope the series get better
i saw the pilot and i´m not addict at all.
The actors are pathetic, as the story, just made for teens. Are copying to the Lord of Rings etc? This series does not have an identity own, the conception is absolutelly wrong.
I don´t like this at all. the ratings are droping with causes. poor futures series if there is a season 2.
Totally addicted! I’ve been reading Terry Brooks books for over 20 years and this show is not disappointing me. My whole family watches it.
Very impressed with the results so far through 4 episodes. Just enough new scenes and staying true to the original material. My only gripe is Allanon would have never have a sword. Thats not his thing. I cringe every time that stupid auto assemble thing comes out. But Manu is doing ok.
The original artwork from The Sword of Shannara has Allanon with a sword, much like Gandalf uses a sword in the LOTR/The Hobbit. The series so far is a valiant and entertaining attempt to bring Terry’s work to the TV medium, and I think the cast is great, but I have been disappointed in some of the changes to the storyline and the characters they are leaving out. Still going to watch it and Manu is awesome as Allanon.
Loved the show! I’ve been a big fan of Terry Brooks and have read 24 of his books between both series. Give this show a chance guys. It can be the springboard to so much more. The’re other books that’ll make for great stories and blockbuster films. Even if you don’t care for every cast member, Season 2 could potentially pick up on another book with a completely different cast, years into the future.
People should give this show a chance, it’s EPIC! And I never heard of the books before too.
Don’t cancel I only saw half of the first episode and I am hooked please don’t cancel 🙁
I love this show!
Good start to the show, people shouldn’t dismiss it after only 1 episode give it a chance its got loads of potential.
It was amazing!.
Not crazy about this show. I mean the sets are incredible, but the acting in some scenes is terrible, the music is way too distracting throughout the entire episode, the plot and characters didn’t really draw me into the into the story or tell me why I should care about whether the characters live or die. There was plenty else that detracted from the overall episode, but it does seem to have room for improvement. It seems like MTV blew their money on the set and filming in New Zealand, which means they need way more viewers to make as… Read more »
I haven’t yet watched the show, am really looking forward to it. I hope the viewership numbers rise, that would ensure a second season, maybe . My opinion, thanks …
