If a show has been cancelled, the networks often resort to burning off the remaining episodes on Saturday nights. That’s what ABC did with The Assets? But, what happens if a show’s ratings are even too low for Saturday nights? Well, apparently you run it on Sunday afternoons.
The Futon Critic reports that ABC has decided to air the remaining four episodes of their cancelled series The Assets on Sunday afternoons — but you’ll have to wait awhile to see them.
Episodes five (“Check Mate”) and six (“Small Useless Truth”) will run on July 27th at 4pm and 5pm. Episodes seven (“The Straw Poll”) and eight (“Avenger”) will then air on August 3rd at 4pm and 5pm.
Hopefully, the network won’t change their plans before these actually air.
What do you think? Do you think the episodes will finally air or will ABC pull them again?
why not just put all 8 episodes on demand or on abc go and those who want to finish the series are not punished
it might have had better saturday night ratings if it had been better published that it was being aired
I just happened to scroll ad saw it
this was a well done show,at least the first episodes and you would think that abc would be big enough to finish it for those of us were fans
I mean, come on, it’s only 8 episodes… and you kept black box??
I have really enjoyed watching The Assets. Besides the obvious comparison to the FX show of the same genre I think this one has enough life to stand on it’s own and should be allowed to air sooner rather than later, and in it’s entirety. I agree with several remarks that not of what makes its way to air is garbage and I hate to see ABC prolonging the airing or even considering another cancellation. For shame ABC…. Just air the remaining episodes!
I have watched 2 of The Assets and missed taping it last night, July 12th. How many episodes have been aired and how can I watch them before the final 4? The comments regarding this program are true: it is a great series and a shame it is being cancelled. It’s also true that it was never advertised as is much of the trash provided to the masses. Please give us a choice–keep this series and add more quality programs.
The full episodes that have already aired, four in all, are available for viewing at http://abc.go.com/shows/the-assets
This is not unusual for ABC – remember Vengeance Unlimited. It basically speaks to the fact that most of the TV viewing public are not very bright and anything that may make a person think is quickly pulled.
I’ll watch the show, but I can’t help wondering why ABC thought THE ASSETS would be a good “bridge” series between the fall and spring seasons of SCANDAL. SCANDAL isn’t about politics; politics is the MacGuffin. SCANDAL is about sex; it’s a well-dressed, slightly higher-toned version of ONE LIFE TO LIVE or ALL MY CHILDREN. Please don’t take offense. I like SCANDAL, but the women on ABC’s old daytime serials knew enough to LOCK THEIR OFFICE DOORS and CLOSE THE BLINDS before they had sex, even if it was “only” oral sex, with their husband’s running mate. (And their children… Read more »
Anything smart is usually pulled so as a rule- If i like a show it will be canceled!
This a very interesting show. Why doesn’t ABC give it a serious chance? The programming people at ABC are doing a big disservice to us. It’s a lot better than most of their programs. Shame on you, ABC! Who’s running that network??
This is a great show and it’s beyond me why ABC canceled it in the first place. If it was some stupid quasi-reality show they would keep it on for far too long. It seems that most of the networks are more intent on attracting stupid people rather than anyone with an iota of intelligence.
Great show, to bad it is cancelled.
ABC finally had produced a series to rival the widely popular “The Americans” and then cancelled it TWICE?! As others have commented, “The Assets” was a suspenseful mix of intrigue and angst. I can’t fathom ABC’s policies. I can promise that I will henceforth boycott all products hawked on ABC.
I think this show is really good and couldn’t wait to see the rest of the episodes. I was extremely disappointed when they pulled it all of a sudden. Then came new life. And then, they changed it on me again….I just hope I get to see the rest of the episodes….Otherwise, just put it on Netflix and let me watch it at my leisure.
And are they really trying to tell me that this show isn’t as good as half of the other crap that they and other networks put over the air…SERIOUSLY ?
Can’t figure out why ABC can’t just run the show and finish it, when it is a simple eight episodes. It’s a great show about history and I loved it when it came out last year for the first two episodes, and then was excited again to see they were going to finish it in the summer and Saturday nights… Just to find out they move it again to Sunday afternoons. Number one… If they would advertise the show a little bit like other shows and maybe people would know about it and watch it. Number two… The people that… Read more »
this is why no one even starts watching shows like this because they get pulled without any resolution!
this is a great show and my 28 yr old daughter was into it, because it was a part of history and we would talk about how I felt when it really happened in the 80’s!
why do they not take a cue from cable, do limit run shows but COMMIT to running the whole series till the end!
There we go again!!! One of the best spy mini-series on TV axed again… I was looking forward to recording the remaining episodes, and enjoy this ” Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” a l’americaine, but All But Crap has decided to postpone it once again. No wonder they are loosing thousands of viewers every single month. The American public deserve much better than what they are served on a daily basis. It is really sad for our great country that quality TV production is no longer a priority for our so called elite; Congress would like to cut funding for PBS… Read more »
