The Tiffany network is sticking with the Reagan family. CBS has renewed its Blood Bloods TV show for a ninth season. Although the police procedural has fallen in the ratings and has never been a strong performer in the coveted 18-49 year old viewer demo, it always draws a large total audience, even on Friday nights, when viewership tends to dip.
A CBS family drama, Blue Bloods stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, Sami Gayle, and Vanessa Ray. The police procedural centers on the Irish-American Reagans, a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Selleck) leads both the police force and his brood.
Blue Bloods: A Look at the Ratings
The eighth season of Blue Bloods is averaging a 0.92 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.21 million viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 26% and down by 12%, respectively. Thanks to its poor performance in the demo, Blue Bloods ranks 18th out of the 25 scripted CBS TV shows we’re tracking. However, when we sort by average total viewership, it rises to fifth place.

Excited that Blue Bloods has been renewed. Only disappointment was “Linda” dying!
Awesome news! CBS obviously knows when it’s got a good thing going on. Blue Bloods is my favorite show. I watch every Friday night, the marathons on ION and daily on WGN America as well. Tom Selleck is the best as Frank, Len Cariou also does a wonderful job as Henry. The entire cast is terrific! Sunday dinners are my favorite part of the program; the writers do a great job of getting the Reagan family discussions about the episode topics going. I’m just really happy I have at least another year Of Blue Bloods to look forward to!
Way to go CBS. Y0u have renewed all of our favorite shows.
I enjoy this program. It is one of my favorites. As a native New Yorker, I enjoy seeing familiar locations and sights. But most of all I enjoy the family bonding. The program makes you feel like you are a part of the Reagan family due to the real conversations at Sunday dinners and remind me of times past when growing up and the close knit family relationships that no longer exist due to the technology that now deprives many families of around the table conversations due to having their heads focused on ipads/android that have replaced real life interaction.… Read more »
Blue Bloods is one of my favorite shows. I like the fact that it has true family values which is lacking on a lot of shows these days. But how can you go wrong with Tom Selleck- love all his shows and movies (Jesse Stone, Magnum PI, An Innocent Man, Quigley Down Under) the only thing i miss is his devious Magnum laugh. Keep up the great work and hope its on for many years to come.
There’s not a lot of good television anymore.
My family and I absolutely love Bluebloods, from day one. Thank you CBS for the greatest television series ever.
