The Tiffany network is sticking with the Reagan family. CBS has renewed its Blood Bloods TV show for a ninth season. Although the police procedural has fallen in the ratings and has never been a strong performer in the coveted 18-49 year old viewer demo, it always draws a large total audience, even on Friday nights, when viewership tends to dip.
A CBS family drama, Blue Bloods stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, Sami Gayle, and Vanessa Ray. The police procedural centers on the Irish-American Reagans, a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Selleck) leads both the police force and his brood.
Blue Bloods: A Look at the Ratings
The eighth season of Blue Bloods is averaging a 0.92 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.21 million viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 26% and down by 12%, respectively. Thanks to its poor performance in the demo, Blue Bloods ranks 18th out of the 25 scripted CBS TV shows we’re tracking. However, when we sort by average total viewership, it rises to fifth place.

What do you think? Do you still enjoy the Blue Bloods TV series? Did you think CBS would cancel or renew it for season nine? Let us know, below.
Love the show, never miss it. Reruns get me through the week until the next new episode. It is great to have a show with strong family values to watch. It was tough to see Linda go and I might have changed the way they told that story in S8 episode 1 but the season recovered. Looking forward to where S9 takes us.
I love this show!!! I Love the Reagan Family, keep it up.
I love Blue Bloods and never miss an episode. Watch the teruns over and over. So refreshing to see the strong family bond
Glad that Blue Bloods was picked up for another season but I have to admit that this past season just wasn’t the same as seasons before… lacking something! Wondering if they have new writers? Either way, new writers or not , they need to step it up and keep it more realistic and interesting. It doesn’t surprise me that the ratings are dropping. Great family values and I love the cast but seriously something needs to give if they intend on getting viewers back and get the ratings they need. Happy they are back for 2018-2019, but praying it gets… Read more »
Love Blue Bloods. Can’t wait for season 9.
Glad that you renewed blue blood love the Reagan family can’t think of watching anything else on Friday nights
It’s a Fri. eve. must watch when we are home.
We’ve enjoyed watching the kids grow up.Having Kathy’s character depart was a disappointment. Please keep producing & filming this show!!
Who is Kathy? I can’t place her
My husband and I are thrilled that Blood Bloods has been renewed for another season! Love the family dinners and the discussions around the table. Good moral values, always trying to do the right thing. Need more shows like this one. We don’t get TV reception and cable is not available in our area so we buy each season through Amazon so we can watch the day after it airs on CBS. It is our version of Saturday morning Westerns (I guess in this case it would be an Eastern, being in New York). Thanks again CBS for renewing for… Read more »
Very happy Blue Bloods has been renewed. I just started watching, and have been catching up with past seasons. Love the family dynamic and the strong moral compass. Don’t see that in many programs these days. Also love the crime stories and how the family debates the issues.
I am so very happy that Blue Bloods has been renewed for another season. We watch the show when we have Family night. Blue Bloods is an awesome show especially when we watch it as a family. Thank you sooooooo much.
I have actually just started watching Blue Bloods and love it. I binged watched all the back episodes on HULU, then had to get the CBS app to watch season 8. I love this series, I love the character development, the family and how they relate, love the action, and all the personal story lines. I’m very happy there will be a season 9. I am now caught up to the current episodes and have to wait for new episodes, like everyone else. I can’t wait for them every week.
Great show. One of the reasons the show has a declining audience is the lack of consistency in airing. We pay top dollar for ATT dish & never know from one Friday to the next whether blue bloods will be on. One Friday we were not ‘allowed to watch it because of our ‘package, but by Monday it was ‘ok & we could watch. Crazy. Like ABC”s Good Doctor, same thing. Miss a Friday, on the following Friday the latest episode is on. Drives me nuts. I asked ATT about this & they said It’s up to the distributers!? So… Read more »
Thank you for renewing Blue Bloods. Really enjoy this show. If not home am sure to DVR it
I love the show, but it is perilously close to jumping the shark. They are repeating previous plot lines, hoping no one will notice.
And so many loose ends are getting tied up in Season 8.
Danny and his sons are moving on nicely, Erin and ex-hubby Jack are obviously going to get back together. Nicky’s been in college long enough to have several doctorates by now.
And at long last, Jamie and Eddy are going to admit that they’ve been in love since day-one.
Another season would just be tedious. Be merciful and pull the plug now
NOOOOO……no plug pulling!
I am thrilled about Blue Bloods. Can not think of why it would be canceled unless the main character left. I believe it is the best one out there. Love the entire Reagan family. As far as I am concerned it can go on and on and on like Gunsmoke did.
So happy that Blue Bloods has been renewed. It’s the best drama series on tv. I’m over 70 and I have all seasons recorded and watch them over and over. It’s intelligent and always has a good story line. I was very sorry that Amy Carlson left, but understand why.
