Rebel is one of the more surprising cancellations of this television season. ABC Signature President Jonnie Davis is the latest to speak out about the cancellation of the drama series after only four episodes into its season. It appears cancelling the Katey Sagal series was just as hard from the side of the studio.
Davis said the following about the decision made by ABC to cancel the series, per Deadline:
“We love Krista Vernoff, we made this incredible deal with her. There’s no better showrunner in town — and a creator by the way — and we were gut-punched about Rebel. We hoped that was going to get more time to fully find the audience, and if you’re reading the blogs right now, people love that show. We’re still licking our wounds on that one.”
Sagal and others have also spoken out publicly about the cancellation of Rebel. There is still hope the series could find a new home.

Rebel needs to find a new home! I love the characters and the storyline – I need to know what happens and to see the characters develop over time!
Rebel is new blood for ABC that has little to offer viewers with good programming. As A viewer I watch maybe 4 shows on ABC and now you take away one. Couldnt you have found another time slot? Too bad now Im back to just 3.
Best new show this season I hope it finds a new home they keep the Bachelor and Bachelorette on and cancel Rebel go figure
Ashamed that Rebel is officially canceled by ABC after the first season. Hopefully they find new home for the show. Moving to Freeform, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, Apple TV+, HBO Max, or Paramount+.

Please give Rebel a second chance. It’s a great group of actors and a great storyline.
I am sick of network tv not giving shows a chance. How do you expect to find the audience after only showing 3 or 4 episodes, especially when you have so many mini plots going on in the show. You have one of the best casts assembled here. If only they would have shown some faith in that alone then this would not have happened. Rebel is one of the best new shows on tv. Abc should bring rebel back. Too many junk shows. Abc finally have a gem of a hit show and didn’t know it. Just bring rebel back. The cast is fantastic and the shows writers fantastic. Rebel is a hit show. Abc always canceled the great shows and replaces them with junk. Rebel is one of the BEST shows on tv! I’m in shock it’s not being renewed. Great cast, great stories……save this show PLEASE! Revive it somewhere else. So much trash tv already……save one of the few good ones that are left. Big fan of this show!

No way a show with this strong a plotline, cast, etc should be cancelled this fast! Give viewers something of substance to watch, instead of all the mindless (and perhaps cheaper production costs) shows that flood tv for years now! It’s not too late for ABC to retract its senseless cancellation of Rebel and give the show what it deserves – another season!
This is absolutely tight for my very best show. I also like ball. I could not believe that you cancelled after three or four shows. The show makes you want to keep coming back every week for more of the same. The plots are terrific. Give it a second thought because it is a terrific program and it is a great loss if you go on with the cancellation
