The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots just kicked off on OWN this week. While the series hasn’t been cancelled, it seems like the Tyler Perry drama is coming to an end in 2021 and won’t have a ninth season.
Airing on Tuesday nights, The Haves and the Have Nots stars John Schneider, Tika Sumpter, Angela Robinson, Renee Lawless, Crystal Fox, Peter Parros, Tyler Lepley, Gavin Houston, and Aaron O’Connell. The drama centers on the complicated dynamic between the Cryer, Harrington, and Young families of Savannah, Georgia. In season eight of this drama series, Judge Cryer (Schneider) and his rich friends are all finding out what happens when personal flaws go unchecked. Karma has not been kind to the elite one-percenters.
The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots currently averages a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 873,000 viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 60% in the demo and down by 34% in viewership. The series was once the cable channel’s highest-rated show but the premiere’s numbers put it much closer to the bottom of the list. Is it time for the show to end?
New York Post recently ran a profile about Robinson under the title “Haves and Have Nots star breaks down its final season”. The article goes on to confirms that the series is ending by noting “It kicks off its final season Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the cable network.” and “Robinson tells fans to expect the final season of The Haves and Have Nots to be an emotional rollercoaster.”
But wait, hasn’t the cast already filmed a ninth season? Maybe not.
In 2019, Houston said that he was about to start filming the ninth season of the series. The season lengths for this series have been very inconsistent — ranging from nine to 44 episodes a season — so, OWN could have changed their plans about how the episodes would be grouped.
OWN has been quiet about the show’s immediate future. However, Perry’s other shows on the channel have already ended. In 2017, Perry signed a deal to produce 90 episodes of television each year for ViacomCBS outlets (including BET and BET+) so that’s been keeping him very busy.
It’s unclear how many episodes in season eight but hopefully, The Haves and the Have Nots will have a satisfying conclusion.

I think they should not End the show and not like this anyways when David Harrington have feelings for Hanna Yung. It shouldn’t end like this it is a Good Show and funny also at lest stop on season 9.But it has been good watching it tho.
I have enjoyed the Haves & Haves Nots since it began. If it goes off air I’ll be sad. It has been a great show to watch. I hope there will be more seasons to come!
I loved the Have and Have Nots. I’m sorry it is ending. I live all Tyler Perry’s movies and plays.

I have watched The Have And The Have Nots from the start, Please do not cancel!
I started watching it the first season and kept watching to follow the plot. Loved the set design and Veronica’s wardrobe but I got sick of the very long pauses in the dialogue and Jim Cryer saying “Oh Really”. Bad acting, bad directing and bad dialogue got cumbersome. The gay thread became annoying and I thought very disrespectful in portrayal. I can’t wait for it to end.
I am glad it is ending. It intrigued me in the first few seasons and I loved the set design and Veronica’s wardrobe but I hated the really long pauses between actors and their responses. Madonna slaven. I have watched the show from the beginning. I look forward to see what the crazy woman lawyer does next. Show is full of drama. Some very good actors and actresses. Will miss it. Do not cancel this great show.
I am going to miss the have and the have nots After 8 years that is one of my favorite show now the show is Canceling… Tyler Perry you know you are a bad man…. Just like for better for worse… also to Close to home & if Loving you is wrong…you have a lot of other shows that is coming alone.. i hope they last just as the others shows did or longer …once you start watching one of your show its hard to let go
I am so sad to hear that the Have and Have Nots is ending . I have watched every episode of every season and , I love this show and the characters . Please don’t take away the Have and Have Nots . Knowing that each week I will get a chance to see it helps me make it through the week .
I watched every episode of If Loving You is Wrong. Hubby would walk in as I was watching it and began to watch with me. We have watched every episode The HAHN together. We watched many series together and HAHN is our favorite. Please don’t let this be the end of this amazing cast of characters.
