Although it is known for its gritty modern series, with its new Will TV show, TNT is dipping a toe into the period drama genre. Despite being set in 16th century London, the cable network has promoted its young Shakespeare series — with a modern soundtrack — as an edgy peek at the past, through a contemporary lens. Will today’s audience tune in for a new look at the Bard of Avon? Will Will be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
The Will TV series stars Laurie Davidson as William Shakespeare. The TNT cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mattias Inwood, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. At just 24 years of age, with no social or political advantages, Shakespeare is willing to risk everything in pursuit of his dreams. He dives headlong into the fast and treacherous world of Elizabethan theatre, trying to make it as a writer.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like the Will TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season on TNT?
9/5 update: Will has been cancelled; there will be no season two on TNT. Details here.
I truly hope TNT will renew Will. The cast is great, it is very well acted and great writing! And educational!
I think it should be renewed because it reminds me of my Shakespeare class in high school and I feel like I am reading the Shakespeare books all over again. Jamie Campbell bower is my favorite actor in this show
The most refreshingly different and entertaining show I have seen in a long time. And no special effects to distract you. I’m hoping for a second season.
Please Please Please give us more. Amazing cast love the beautiful fresh punk look. I’ve watched the entire season 1 twice and Will again. There has to be a season 2!!!!!
Loved it both my husband and I watched it it appealed to both of us. One more season please!!!
All the ingredients, but not the right vehicle. Sorry. Dump it.
Please renew for a second season. What an excellent show. Amazing how educational a show could be. I have become so intrigued by each of the characters that I have started to research each of them. Everyone one of the characters have played an important role in history. Well done TNT and writers. Looking forward to season 2, hopefully we the viewers won’t be disappointed with the renewal of the show.
I just binged watched Will, and for those of you waiting for it to arrive on TV as scheduled, it’s a masterpiece. Definitely worth the watch. I truly hate that there’s not another season yet because I want to keep watching. If they decide not to continue the series because of TV ratings, they’re honestly not the brightest at all. Many TV channels don’t realize that everyone is going online now to watch series not TV. Heck, I don’t own cable TV or satellite TV at all. Everything I watch is online. They need to start advertising to the right… Read more »
Please give Will a second season! Brilliant cast, fantastic acting, everything about it was well worth watching…we want more of William Shakespeare!
In love with this show. The acting is impeccable, along with the script and character development. I’m a fool for this reimagining of Kit Marlowe and the use of an unusual soundtrack to signal the similarities between often disassociated time periods. All in all, I’m quite scared for the low ratings. A bit gory at times, which even I find myself cringing at. Looking forward to season two and praying we get it!
I love the show and I hope they’ll give it a second season to get the ratings up. He wasn’t the Bard of Avon, through. He was the Bard of Avalon.
He’s the “Bard of Avon” because he came from Stratford-upon-Avon. Avalon generally references the King Arthur legend.
No doubt if it continues to another Season, it will be a hit. Many people, like myself, wait for the full series or at least a season to binge. This will be a hit throughout ALL the colleges once it has time for the binges to spread the word. I know college English majors that are all into Shakespeare that have not seen all your ads because most college students do not watch live tv. The ones I have mentioned it to are excited to watch it, but of course, right now it’s summer and they are working. I think… Read more »
Bravo, TNT! Finally, a show well worth watching! Both fun and moving, this story is brought to life by superb acting and writing combined. Interestingly portraying how hard and gritty life in those days could be, ‘Will’ puts a modern and exciting spin on the trials and triumphs of both Shakespeare and his contemporaries as they earn rightful places in literary history. (Undoubtedly, both Shakespeare and Marlowe would approve!) Please let this show go on!
Will, a big beautiful intelligent breath of edgy air ~ KEEP KEEP KEEP ♥️WILL
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Don’t cancel Will!! I absolutely love the show. It’s is such a breath of fresh air, unlike anything else that has been on TV lately. I love the style that the whole thing is shot in. From the script itself, to the costumes, to the soundtrack, to the cinematography, everything about it is such a refreshing work of art. Please renew it for season 2. I will be greatly disappointed if the show gets cancelled after only one season.
I love love love “WILL”..I beleive it makes history palatable to the audience and is immensly entertaining. The cast is impeccable in all of their respective roles. Would love to see a Season 2.
