Under the Gunn: Lifetime Orders New Tim Gunn Series

Under the Gunn on LifetimeLifetime has ordered a new fashion competition series called Under the Gunn. It will be hosted by Tim Gunn of the channel’s long-running Project Runway.

Project Runway’s Mondo Guerra, Anya Ayoung-Chee and Nick Verreos will manage a fashion empire with 15 up-and-coming designers. Each of the three mentors will manage and coach a team of designers. Judging their efforts will be designer Rachel Roy, stylist Jen Rade, and fashion correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi.

The show will debut on January 16th at 9pm. Production on the 13 episodes will begin later this month at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles.

What do you think? Does this sound like a good idea? Can Tim Gunn make it work?

It was disgusting looking at Mondo’s legs and ugly outfits. And, Anya as a mentor — during her season she made the same outfit every week and was sewing or pinning outfits as they were leaving the room. Tonight Anya had similar top to Asha’s model’s outfit-tacky. Why did you let all of them go forward. You are taking the final competition in too many Project Runnway shows to a disappointing level – into judges cannot make a decision- let’s take everyone!

I love Tim Gunn and this show was very unfair to his skills and intelligence. He is so gifted and dealing with the selected mentors and contestant was most disappointing.

I would also recommend that Project Runway contestants use more “normal” size women in each series.

It seems that Project Runway designers have failed to do good designs for larger models who have appeared on the show. I think they are used to designing for the trig sized woman.
