Gina and Drew won’t be back for the 2022-23 television season. CBS has cancelled B Positive so it won’t see a third year. Fellow Thursday night sitcom United States of Al, also produced by Chuck Lorre, was cancelled last night.
A comedy series, the B Positive TV show stars Annaleigh Ashford, Thomas Middleditch, Kether Donohue, Sara Rue, Izzy G., Terrence Terrell, Linda Lavin, David Anthony Higgins, and Darryl Stephens with Hector Elizondo, Jane Seymour, Ben Vereen, Jim Beaver and Anna Maria Horsford recurring. The story begins with Drew (Middleditch), a therapist and newly divorced dad, who is in need of both a new kidney and a social life. He runs into Gina (Ashford), a rough-around-the-edges former high school acquaintance who volunteers one of her own kidneys. Together, Drew and Gina form an unlikely and life-affirming friendship. During the process, Gina discovers that the happiness she’d been seeking all along could be found in the form of giving. In season two, Drew starts his new life with Gina’s healthy new kidney. Meanwhile, Gina inherits a surprise fortune from a patient at Valley Hills, the assisted living facility where she works, and this leads her to make a big change in a positive direction.
The second season of B Positive averaged a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.48 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season one, that’s down by 21% in the demo and down by 4% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Among CBS’ 21 scripted series of this season, it ranks 15th. In the live+7 day ratings, B Positive averages a 0.60 demo and 5.69 million.
The show ended its run in March, having produced a total of 34 episodes across two seasons. In the past 24 hours, CBS has also cancelled Good Sam, How We Roll, and Magnum PI.
What do you think? Have you watched the B Positive TV show on CBS? Are you sorry to hear that the network has cancelled this sitcom so there won’t be a third season?
Loved B Positive! It was funny and quirky and had a great cast. VERY disappointed it was cancelled.
toss great writing & stellar cast for more low cost game shows, sad
I enjoyed getting a chuckle before heading to bed.
I’m worried that they will give us more reality crap instead of game shows. We used to keep it on CBS all Thursday night. Probably not anymore.
Please Bring IT BACK! I REALLY LOVE THIS SHOW, we need shows like this with stories about Seniors. Don’t shove Seniors back in the basements. It is positive and entertaining. Please don’t give up on this Great Comedy with a heart. Don’t discriminate against the elderly. We need more shows like this to give people hope.
Laurie, you hit the nail on the head! Well said. Thank you.
You cancel the good stuff & leave us with CRAP! I wish you knew what u were doing!
SO SAD!¡!
Same thing regarding United State of Al.
Absolutely.
Very sad b positive was cancelled. One of my favorites!!
B Positive is such a cute show, but it is also touching on things that Seniors think about. It has the actors we have seen and loved for years. And a few youngsters.
B Postive was my favorite show. Why is the 18 to 49 year old demographic relevant. It was a show about senior citizens. People in the 50 to 80 demographic loved the show. That’s the demographic with the money to buy products being advertised. Why can’t there be a show of older people for them to watch, like B Positive. I’m really sad about this.
Brilliant point, Lona! CBS has goofed.
Very disappointed for B Positive, United states of Al and how we roll!
I am very disappointed that B Positive was cancelled. If it can come back I would be pleased. Thank you
Imagine that 18-49 not watching a show about senior assisted living. But those of over 50 loved it & the great actors on the show.
I’m under 40 and loved it!
Absolutely positively a sad decision from CBS.
To be honest I was surprised they got a season 2
This decision is BAFFLING. Even with the change in direction of the show’s focus (well done, I might add) the show was still funny and engaging.
I loved seeing the characters that have grown older with us, the targeted audience.
This is not good news. B Positive was a really funny show. And then The united states of AL gets canceled, too?? Don’t understand the reasoning behind these decisions, but they keep the awful daughter/parent dancing show etc. Ridiculous!!!!!
BINGO! Polly you are absolutely correct. Thanks.
I adored this show! I loved how they transitioned it to the nursing home and had all kinds of new characters for the show. It was precious. My daughter and I watched it together. There were so many more stories to be told with that many characters. Shame in you CBS! AGAIN! Sell it to a streaming service!
B Positive was the only positive thing on CBS.
Let’s replace it with another killing with gun show. CBS is good for that it’s what people like to watch.
Yay Tom!
C B s canceled B positive I’m canceling C B S forever. We need a little laughter in our lives right now and all you have a killer shows. Read the room morons.
Yes! Me too!
