The Night Sky series has been sunset. Prime Video has cancelled the science-fiction show so there won’t be a second season.
A drama, the Night Sky TV show stars Sissy Spacek, J.K. Simmons, Chai Hansen, Kiah McKirnan, Julieta Zylberberg, Rocío Hernández, and Adam Bartley. Spanning space and time, the story follows Irene (Spacek) and Franklin York (Simmons). Years ago, the couple discovered a chamber buried in their backyard which inexplicably leads to a strange, deserted planet. They’ve carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man (Hansen) enters their lives, the Yorks’ quiet existence is quickly upended. The mystifying chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be much more than they could ever have imagined.
Co-produced by Amazon Studios and Legendary Television, the series debuted on May 20th and all eight episodes were released the same day. Deadline reports that, while the series garnered positive reviews, Night Sky didn’t attract a large enough audience to justify the high-cost investment of making a second season of this sci-fi series.
While the show didn’t attract a large enough audience on Earth, perhaps the series might find more appreciation in other parts of the universe.
Prime Video, in conjunction with Amazon Web Services, SES, and Intelsat, beamed the first episode of the sci-fi drama series into outer space just in time for the series premiere. This marks not only the farthest distance from the earth that a TV series has been distributed but also makes Prime Video the first streamer to distribute its content directly into space.

Night Sky is all this article proclaims and more! I love that the silver screen is finally acknowledging the silver generation in more force than it has. This series deserves to have a second life. It covers a wide range of peoples and has potential to continue to knit our world together as it spins its own yarn.
Please, I hope one of the streaming organizations pucks it up. This story us too good to die here.
Fortunately didn’t watch many series in the last decade. Before not at all. This confirm my hypothesis that series are a waste of time and something crazy. You watch them like a dummy and when you’ve done miles on the highway CRASH! the road falls down, and you poor thing remain astonished. Actually I realized around E5 it didn’t conclude on E8, because of too many suspended relationships and facts, but masochistically I’ve gone down till the end, just to put my bet to the test! Very disappointed. I didn’t know there was only one season. I really enjoyed it. Not enough publicity about it. Would like to see at least one more season.
It’s too bad there will not be a second season. It is really irritating to find a show that we enjoy and then find out that it’s been canceled. Who makes these decisions? I understand that it’s prime video, but a show has been started people enjoy it and then somebody just cuts the strings! Very irritating!

Waste of time watching these TV shows when they first air because they are often cancelled and the stories not finished. A waste of my time I see that as. Have stopped watching any new TV show because this happens often now. I only watch old completed TV series now. Stuff Amazon and all the other media services.
Like many, I’m’ a bit more than upset that there’s not a Season Two of Night Sky in the works. Major disappointment.
