Last season, The CW renewed all but one of its regular season shows. This season, the network is holding its regular slate of shows until mid-season, due to the pandemic. Will that delay affect how many shows on The CW will be cancelled or renewed during the 2020-21 season? Stay tuned.
There’s lots of data that network execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient. These charts will be updated daily, as new ratings data becomes available.
CW shows this season (so far): All American, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Charmed, The Christmas Caroler Challenge, Coroner, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, DC’s Stargirl, Devils, Dynasty, The Flash, Kung Fu, Legacies, Masters of Illusion, Nancy Drew, The Outpost, Pandora, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Riverdale, Roswell New Mexico, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, Supernatural, Swamp Thing, Tell Me a Story, Trickster, Two Sentence Horror Stories, Walker, Wellington Paranormal, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and World’s Funniest Animals.

A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
CW these numbers are a disgrace.
Wow. That’s a lot of red. The CW needs to rethink its choice of programs.
I’m really happy for Jared and his Walker. Though it can’t be compare to the wonder of Sam and Dean Winchester, the show clearly appeals to a CW audience bored by the poorly written and overused superhero shows which continue to lose viewers.
All American this year has been really good. Anyone not watching it should start watching it.
the flash, Dynasty so good love it started on netflix look forward every episode please boost ratings even though renewed another season come on May 7 premiere i can’t wait to see it.
Look forward Superman and Lois tv show brand new love Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash too so good worth watching every season including a week.
Batwoman needs to deliver on Sunday (1/24) because Walker had less promotion and interviews and nearly quadrupled her total ratings and doubled+ her 18-49.
Just Batwoman? Other Cw shows don’t matter? I don’t know where you were looking but I saw a ton of promotion for Walker and much less for the other CW premiers. Of course Walker did well. All the Supernatural fans tuned in plus people who were curious. I bet there’s a big drop in week two. The reviews have not been good.
Week 2 will be interesting for both as they will each drop. I wonder who will have the highest % drop. Several comic book sites (e.g., Newsarama, Bleeding Cool) which usually cover Supernatural and Batwoman covered many more interviews and commentary about Batwoman than Walker. Those two plus Superman & Lois are CW’s highest profile launches this year. S&L will be interesting as there has been minimal promotion there as well; but the name recognition is huge. I am not as interested in the returning shows. For instance, did anyone know that Charmed is coming back on Sunday?
I wrote something on last seasons report. So Supernatural goes out as your TOP show for ratings this season so far. Under performers are once again renewed. CW what is your plan to replace your big hits. You need to look at Supernatural, Arrow, and Flash for inspiration… MORE People were tuning in for that style of show. Good luck with your battle against streaming services.
Please please please renew the amazing show Devils on CW along with The Outpost & The Coroner
I still hope all those CW will be a renewal for the new season.
Can’t wait for All American, Riverdale, and Legacies. I didn’t care for the first story on Tell Me s Story. The story on Tell Me a Story now is ten times better. Too bad it’s cancelled. Happy about Coroner, good show.
How do you like Riverdale now. I’m so furious with this more than three month hiatus.
i would like the cw and the creatures of the charmed reboot is that i hate the show the original charmed series was a whole lot better and i think it would of been a better idea if they cw did a spin off or a crossover or one about the next generation of the charmed ones that as to do with there kids like Piper’s kids Paige kids phoebe kids….
All the CW shows return new season next new year which all show being doing few missing. I can’t wait to see them all.
I still hope that all the show will renewal for the new season.
Yesterday had the debut of masters of illusion not on the list?
Friday’s ratings have been added to the chart. FYI, according to The CW press rep., the fall episodes are a continuation of the summer season (s10), not the start of a new season (s11).
