Myfanwy’s story has come to a close. According to TVLine, Starz has decided that there won’t be a second season of The Rook TV show.
A fantasy spy thriller based on the 2012 Daniel O’Malley novel, The Rook stars Emma Greenwell, Joely Richardson, Adrian Lester, Olivia Munn, Jon Fletcher, Ronan Raferty, Catherine Steadman, Gina McKee, Ruth Madeley, Eleanor Matsuura, Shelley Conn, Tamsin Topolski, Barry Atsma, Luke Roberts, James D’Arcy, Michael Karim, and Michael McElhatton. The supernatural series follows Myfanwy Thomas (Greenwell), who awakens in the rain at London’s Millennium Bridge, but has no memory and cannot explain the circle of corpses surrounding her. Myfanwy is a key member of Checquy, the last actually secret service in the UK, and it protects Extreme Variant Abilities (EVAs). As her own supernatural gifts emerge, Myfanwy must dig for the truth about herself.
The first season of The Rook averaged a 0.04 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 225,000 viewers. Compared to other Starz series, it was a middle-of-the-road performer in traditional ratings.
The eighth and final episode aired in August 2019.
What do you think? Did you like The Rook TV show? Would you have watched season two of this Starz series?
It’s very unfortunate STARZ cancelled this high quality show with an unpredictable story line. Not one questionable actor. These qualities are rarely found.
Literally been waiting for a programme like this for years. Badly promoted thought, the film description really let it down when I read it. Should revoke the cancellation, sick of series cancelling! Feel like season 2 is where she really comes out her shell.
Infuriated! Bring it back!
I loved the show! Too bad it was not promoted so people don’t know about it. I came across it by accident. Maybe another network would pick it up? I just binged on it and was looking forward to so many possibilities. Gestalt was a really cool character – what an interesting concept of shared conscientiousness(although they could color their hair differently for season 2, lol). It seemed that Linda was joining the resistance, that was an interesting twist. Maybe the fans of the books were disappointed, but not me.
I did! And I just googled when season 2 was coming out, only to find it’s not 🙁
Would like to have watched season 2 enjoyed season 1 would like to have seen rook meet her seller (young woman) and watched the sparks
I Just finished the Rook season one and I can’t believe they’re not going to do a season two ! I watched it and I watched it all in one day and into the night, I can’t believe that someone is not going to pick up season two ! Please, Please bring it back !
Yes like a lot of you at home during the virus looking for a good show to binge. I agree with the others. Really liked this intriguing show and at the end wanted more. I liked Counterpart on Starz and it seems programs that challenge you to think don’t make it. I do wish a streaming service would pick it up. I would watch!
Yes, I would like a second season. It was intriguing.
I really wanted a season 2….
I just binged watched The Rook. I had watched another Starz series the day before and didn’t think I was going to like it, but I really did and I’m very sad that they are not filming a second season now that I have gotten to know this girl. I truly think they should give a second season season a try. The first four episodes you really did not know what the hell was going on. Was she nuts? Was she telling the truth? When you finally get to the last episode and understand it all, you want more. And… Read more »
This show wasn’t give enough coverage. Some may complain that it didn’t follow the books closely enough, but that does not detract from the fact that it is a really entertaining series. There were enough twists and options to develop additional facets in the plot to make this show memorable. So sad to see it cancelled.
Just finished watching season 1. Very disappointed to see this cancelled. Very entertaining. Very different. When I look at some of the other original “crap” on Starz it is frustrating that a show like this can’t find an audience.
Not surprised. They butchered the books.
Darn it!! I was hoping for the further adventures of Gestalt!!
Really sorry this show was cancelled. I loved it. It was different, exciting, thought-provoking, and captivating. Hopefully someone else (like NETFLIX) will see the potential for several more seasons and pick it up.
No chance of that, it was rubbish.
I love this show!!!!! I want a season 2, please!!!!! A different tv show, actors exellent, direction marvellous, great production!
