Did Whiskey Cavalier ever have a chance at a second season? Recently, ABC boss Karey Burke explained why the network briefly reconsidered the TV show’s cancellation, TVLine reports.
The drama series centers on FBI Agent Will Chase (Scott Foley), codename: “Whiskey Cavalier” and CIA operative Frankie Trowbridge (Lauren Cohan), codename: “Fiery Tribune.” Although they start off as rivals, they’re soon assigned to a joint-agency task force to root out corruption and crime and save the world. The cast also includes Ana Ortiz, Tyler James Williams, Vir Das, and Josh Hopkins.
Earlier this year, ABC cancelled Whiskey Cavalier after one season only to reconsider the decision before ultimately canceling the series. Speaking to TVLine, ABC boss Karey Burke said the network considered bringing the show back because of an email written by executive producer Bill Lawrence:
He was just so deeply passionate about it. He put his heart and soul into it. And he just asked us to take one last look. And we really did.”
However, Burke said a second season of Whiskey Cavalier was just to difficult to justify given the show’s low ratings:
It was tough [to justify] financially [and] ratings-wise. We ultimately just decided to bet on the future.”
What do you think? Have you seen Whiskey Cavalier? Would you have watched a second season?
Yes, I would have watched a 2nd season.
This was a great show. Can’t believe it’s not coming back. ABC needs more shows like this to compete with all the Chicago shows on NBC. Very disappointed!!
This series was one of the most intelligent shows of the season. The cast was flawless….the balance between humor and action was perfect. You really let us hanging. Why did ABC make this decision? I beg if you to bring this cast back. Seriously, this makes no sense at all.
I totally agree with Cindy.. I even told my wife, about 1/2 thru the season, that it wouldn’t last cause it was witty, adventurous and wasn’t all sex. And that it was very sad but I felt it wouldn’t make it cause that is what happens on ABC, CBS and NBC.
Yes. Hubby and I loved Whiskey Cavalier. Please bring back.
Typical network bad deciesion, although it probably reflects more, and “negatively” is an understatement, on the taste of the viewing public-at-large”. I’ll say it again and I don’t care if I’m talking cross-network here: Anytime a larger segment of the public wants to watch drivel like “Bachelor(ette)” and “Love Island”, while a nice little entertaining, well-acted show like “Whiskey Cavalier” gets axed, it’s really good taste that’s the biggest loser.
I couldn’t get into the show no matter how hard I tried. I have no problem with its cancellation.
I loved the show. With all the darkness going on in the world today we need some TV shows that are light and entertaining. I don’t watch much TV because of quality of the shows. This show was fun to watch and I was hoping it would be renewed again for many seasons to come.
I would love a second season. Thanks was witty and funny. Bring it back please.
Yes would have watched
Wasn’t a fan of Scott Foley, but was entertained by the idea of the show. NBC like every other network expects to much from a show it’s first season. The actors and the characters they are portraying need a season to come together. The watching audience also needs time to bond with the shows plot and it’s characters. Many a season I have been excited about a new show only to have it canceled before the season has completed. I suggest the major networks all go to the one season limited series that are currently being aired on the cable… Read more »
I was absolutely heartbroken over the cancellation of WC along with everyone I’ve spoken/chatted with.
The show was just so exciting and funny. It at least deserves a two hour finale.
Come on ABC, do the right thing .
YES !! I would watch another season. !!
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
Really liked this show!!
YES…we liked it!
