Beth, Ruby, and Annie won’t be back for the 2021-22 season. NBC has cancelled the Good Girls series so there won’t be a fifth year of the low-rated show.
A drama series, Good Girls stars Christina Hendricks, Retta, Mae Whitman, Reno Wilson, Manny Montana, Lidya Jewett, Isaiah Stannard, and Matthew Lillard. The TV series centers on three suburban moms who’ve struggled to get by. They hold up the local Fine & Frugal supermarket, but their take far exceeds their expectations and they find themselves in deep trouble with the local crime boss. In season four, the stakes get higher as the Secret Service closes in on the women’s counterfeit ring. When we last saw Beth, she was struggling to carve out her own criminal path separate from Rio, using her husband’s spa company, Boland Bubbles, as a front. Ruby seemed to have salvaged her marriage after a rocky road, but only time will tell if her hidden secrets implode. Annie is focusing on inner love and healing as she takes the journey to rebuild independence.
Airing on primarily on Sunday nights, the fourth season of Good Girls averages a 0.34 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.47 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season three, that’s down by 20% in the demo and down by 20% in viewership (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled.
Season four resumed last night, after a month’s break, with a pair of episodes. There are five installments remaining and a two-hour finale is expected to air on July 22nd.
There had been some discussion about moving Good Girls to a streaming service but it apparently didn’t work financially.
What do you think? Do you enjoy the Good Girls TV show? Are you sorry to hear that this NBC series won’t be back for a fifth season?
I have enjoyed watching what trouble these three sweethearts get into each week
So sorry they will be canceled. Every wonderful show, like Prodigal Son, Manifest etc are being canceled. Is there a payoff going on?
Well, this news just ruined my day. Thanks a lot NBC! This is one of my all-time favorite shows, and it will be sorely missed. What the heck is wrong with people? They’d rather watch the Bachelor than something written with intellect?? Says a lot about the state of society!!
It’s not only NBC, Netflix cancelled it too. I will miss the show. So many shows I like are being cancelled. Not fair, they should take a vote.
Very disheartening..I looove this show Beth is a piece of work and Rio is oh so finneeee!!!
About time.
I love Good Girls and am so disappointed it won’t be back for season 5. These ladies always entertain me and I was always surprised at the twist and turns each episode. Please reconsider NBC. You are letting a great show go. This is a winner.
I never watched. Maybe I’ll discover during reruns. There’s just too much good programming and too many sources.
I love these three ladies individually & putting them together worked amazingly. Each season has had its own tangent & yet they wove together seamlessly. Retta & Mae’s conversations are played so straight while tears roll down my face. I was so happy when the two episodes came on Thursday, only to have my hopes dashed by this news on Friday. Only 7 more hours of this trio just isn’t enough. I assume the low ratings were held up against the salaries being paid as money from every angle comes into these decisions. Still I am a very unhappy viewer.
Best show on television in years. Addictive. Manny best actor by far. Will not watch any NBC ever again. Thanks to their stupidity.
Well this is getting so annoying! This makes the 7th or 8th show that I watch that has now been cancelled. Makes me ask myself why am I paying for all these channels when all my shows are being removed! Not impressed.
No freaking way!!!!
I love this show
Ya did it again NBC!!!!!
Unreal! So NBC leaves us with more Dateline NBC? So disappointed this show is cancelled.
SO DISAPPOINTED! The three main characters were great as were their stories and character development. And no more Beth and Rio – such amazing chemistry and storyline!!! Plus the show was just starting to give insight to Rio’s family and background. Like the other comment, what a shame if yet another reality show replaces “Good Girls”.
I love good girls networks always taking away the best shows I’m disappointed
So disappointed Good Girls has been canceled. My family and friends love this show. It was always exciting to see what happens in each episode. Always excited for the next weeks show. So frustrating to have a great show with outstanding writers and actors canceled!!!
